If I have an easeful afternoon; if I have a cup of Ceylon; if I have a comfortable couch, I will take out the K701, plugging it into an amplifier, and mingle my flesh with the soft cotton, releasing myself into the music world.

K701 is my old friend. It may cry; it may laugh; it may declaim; it may whisper. Just like its appearance, the lily white, K701 is a blooming girl in a lace dress. Unadorned, invigorating but elegant, its sound accords with its look. This is why people associate K701 heavily with outstanding female vocal playback.

But they are wrong. Smooth as K701 sounds, it can only picture the younger female vocals. For the older ones, K701’s answer is like a bottle of Napoleon Whisky contaminated by a tad of Sprite, too sweet for the audience to sip the thickness of the mature female voice. So why do I still love it? Because classic music.

 Born in Austria, K701 inherits the classic gene from that country. Not as Germany, the homeland of splendid symphony, Austria prefers to deal with music more leisurely, like concerto, sonata and quartet.  If Germany music were the roaring torrent, the Austria would be a crispy stream, at ease while lively. K701 is the perfect instrument Austrian created to illustrate their understanding of music. It has a wide sound field, which can be described as a rectangle-shaped music hall. The excellent separation qualifies K701 to discern every musical instrument’s position. The detail information is abundant enough to feed the audience’s ear. For me, what pushed me into love with K701 is the performance of violin and piano.

 Violin, oh violin; you complete K701. K701’s smooth treble and round midrange embraces violin’s tone seamlessly. Violin to K701 is just like expresso to Macarons, Lafite wine to snowflake beef. From the performance, the fragrance of rosin on the string passes through the melodies then flirts with your neuron. Details suffuse. Even the slight air vibration in the violin’s body can be caught by K701. A live solo is in front of you. You can sense the performer’s move, pace and feeling.

 Piano is fickle. It can express different emotions with different rhythm and tone. K701 handles that well. When it comes to a relaxing or hilarious chapter, K701 makes the melodies dance on the string. When it comes to a serious or sad one, K701 curbs the pace. When it comes to a lyric one, K701 provides an unlimited sky for the song to soar.
