Would I buy a Jyrobike?
The Jyrobike is a two-wheeler equipped with a gyroscope so it can do the balancing for you.
Put that way, it sounds a little like the Segway, a 2-wheeled platform introduced back in 2001, with 2 tilt  and 5 gyroscopic sensors to keep you upright, .
The Jyrobike helps keeping you upright, but apart from the smart front wheel, it's a regular bike that has no further resemblance to the Segway. At all.
You can already buy (or preorder) the wheel or a full bike for your kid. So as to avoid bumps and bruises while learning how to ride a bike.
It will also be available for adult bikes.Â
Would I buy a Jyrobike?
Probably not for my grandkids (which I don't have yet). Why? I think failing is a requirement for learning. And proficiency is the result of deliberate practice. So I'm not quite sure if you really can learn how to ride a bike without getting some bumps or bruises in the process. (Even though you can gradually decrease the auto-balancing effect).Â
Would I buy a Jyrobike for my 81-year-old mother or 83-year-old father who have become more and more afraid of getting on their bike because their sense of balance has gotten worse over the years? Definitely. Immediately. That is, if I can get them to trust  technology. The Jyrobike might well improve the quality of their lives for –hopefully– years to come.
I might be wrong about the kids' version. So, make no mistake: the Jyrobike definitely is a brilliant idea.

Jyro Bike
What it is: Jyrobike is a bike for kids who are learning to ride a bike. It keeps itself balanced due to a gyroscope. It hardly overturns, so children can ride independently. Jyrobike is linked to Kickstarter, where they are trying to make a 100.000 dollar for this project. You can reserve the bike for about 249 dollars. Why it is cool: This little bicycle will teach children how to ride a bike. Also it provides the convenience to the kids, so they are willing to learn more and to learn faster. Also the gyroscope is a sustainable way to make this bike efficient. Why it has future growth potential: Jyrobike is a nice initiative for children to teach them to stay positive in a learning-process. A self-balancing bike takes their quality of life to a higher level. Kids don’t have to be insecure anymore and can participate with others. Jyrobike turns can’ts into cans and dreams into plans. http://freshgadgets.nl/jyrobike-zelfbalancerende-fiets-die-kinderen-laat-fietsen-zonder-zijwieltjes

No Need for Training Wheels with This Bike
The Jyrobike is a bicycle that balances itself. Jyrobike, a company based in Belfast and Philadelphia, has launched a child-sized bicycle that uses an inner gyroscope to steady the machine, eliminating the need for training wheels.
Jyrobike - Auto Balance Bicycle
“When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle.” Elizabeth Howard West
