Among the gym leaders there was always a certain air of familiarity. Aside from the cluster of Elite Four members, only the gym leaders really knew what it was they went through. Along with the long hours and commitment to pushing not only their Pokemon but themselves as well, came a long list of other responsibilities. For Jaebum it left a rather small amount of time dedicated to just goofing off and having fun. That of course didn’t mean that he didn’t find fun in different places or ways.
Among all of the gym leaders, there was a small handful that Jaebum was exceptionally close to. Possibly the closest was Bomi, the lively fighting type leader. If there was anyone that he counted as a close rival, it was Bomi. Though Jaebum would never admit that to her, if he did, well he wouldn’t live it down. Like light and dark, Bomi seemed to be his counterpart in so many different ways. That was aside from their personalities and very nature. Jaebum himself was considered a bit standoffish toward strangers although he too boasted his own barrage of smiles and playful pranks, he couldn’t contend with the radiance that was Bomi.
It was Jinyoung really though that balanced the two of them. A happy medium to their overbearing nature at times, it wasn’t odd to see them hanging around each other at events. It also wasn’t rare to see Jinyoung at events boasting invites for only gym leaders. If Bomi hadn’t beaten him to dragging Jinyoung along for the ride well then Jaebum wasn’t far behind. In fact a lot of their behavior was nothing but a cycle. A complete circle that amused him to no end. Jinyoung would start by challening Bomi to a battle and more often than not found himself the loser. A few days of sulking and catering to Bomi and he was tugging at Jaebum to go ahead and defend his honor. All it took was a few words from Jinyoung and Jaebum was lugging himself over to Suwon to yet again challenge Bomi to a battle.
Today was no different, Jaebum had woken up rather early to catch the train over to Suwon. Half asleep he had stumbled out of the train station just in time to catch a late breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Full of good food and feeling a bit playful, he wasted no time in making his way over to her gym, an easy grin painted on his face. Throwing open the doors, Jaebum waved at the handful of opposing trainers on duty, already familiar enough with them they barely batted an eyelash at him. He didn’t struggle with the escalators as much any newcomer and found himself before hesitating before confronting Bomi. Tugging at the longer pieces of his hair, he bit at his bottoml ip before throwing open her door as well. “Bomi! I know you’re here.”
