I don’t know if you’re being selfish or not. Sino bang gusto makasakit? Sino bang gusto masaktan?
swimmingwastelandmiracle replied to your post: @anamatics In some fan fiction it is. Ish.
I just... Sigh.l Fanfic =! reality. And the reality of the show, in the context of Joan and Moriarty, is really, really important.
I would argue that those fanfics have missed the point of the dynamic entirely and have reduced either Joan, Moriarty, or both, to a caricature of their actual on screen personas.
Understanding that dynamic is vital for the pairing to work, because otherwise it will always been tainted by Moriarty’s racism and misogyny as expressed toward Joan. Writing Moriarty (or Joan for that matter) within such constraints implies a simplicity in the dynamic that simply isn’t there. Moriarty isn’t sarcastic or broody. She’s a cold blooded killer whose communication is tainted by her race-, class- and sexism. Joan has her broody moments, and I would argue that she isn’t a puppy (not touching the linguistic coding of ‘puppy’ re Asian women with a ten foot pole) or a ray of sunshine. She’s Joan. A woman who gets angry, who has opinions, who has agency. Moriarty’s whole thing is that she’s threatened by Joan’s agency.
So yes, this seems pedantic and elitist, but no. This post doesn’t work for Joan and Moriarty. It’s a simplistic understanding of characters that simply isn’t true.
"Do you always do this; go up to random strangers and talk at them?"
He was genuinely curious.
I took these ages ago and couldn’t get myself to edit them. They’re still meh. I really need to do something to get my interest in Jaks back again.

When Molly and Jim were dating they talked about death. Jim enjoyed her death jokes/puns.
