As I sit here at the airport I reflect on the last 9 days. . They have challenged me, they have inspired me, they have moved me, they have bought me inner wisdom and they have shown me that even if I think I donāt want to do something it is quite possible I could be missing out. . Yes I had the Great Wall of China on my bucket list and of course Disney Shanghai. The tour I booked in was just my means of getting there in an affordable fashion. I had no idea of the things I would be seeing or listening to while I was there. . I had a moment in a āsmallā town (10 million people) in Hangzhou where the scenery was so beautiful it truly moved me. Every tree I walked past I was moved to caress. I never had any idea there could be a place like that in China for me. I felt tears well to the surface at one point. So interesting. . In my head it was all crazy people, pushy people, too many people, too much pollution, too much this and that, not enough of the other stuff. . Yet what I found was so different to that. . A place that rewards you for buying electric or hybrid cars and charges you according to your amount of pollution, thatās after you enter a lucky dip to even be allowed to buy a car. And if you try to do the cheap version by driving then you canāt drive on the highways the government built. . Iāve always loved listening to the historical stories and yet Iāve never looked into Chinaās stories. Their Romeo and Juliet story that was part true, as in the people of the story existed, I fell in love with. Especially since it ends with them both turning into butterflies and being together that way. . I am glad to be home, no doubt, and Iām happy to have had the experience I did. . Life truly is what you make it. And I have a deeper understanding of the people there than I ever have before. . If you have a chance - Go. Not a single person on our tour didnāt have a good time. Donāt expect good vegetarian/vegan food though. A lot of pork and chicken though. . A few more hours and Iām back in Brisbane.
