easy!! Billionaire’s Baby!! <- I actually have ideas for a rewrite that I’ve been tossing around but it was honestly a book that just really… disappointed me? Like I didn’t have masterpiece standards or anything but, like, it felt so… much worse.

I think my main issue is that Daphne is clearly not just your typical “bad spouse”, she has a controlling mother and has been railroaded into a life that she didn’t particularly want. And yet, we get to see all of that and do nothing! The best we can do is not be total jerks to her after the baby is born???

Daphne is literally the reason I replay The Billionaires Baby as often as I do. The dialogues with her post-birth are so so worth it. Seeing this woman who doesn’t even WANT a baby still try to be a good mother; regret that she can’t love the kid more than she does and still try touches me so so much.

probably parental conflict + queer themes in general? those are major themes in a lot of my characters jeez wonder what that says about me (typing that out made me realize all but, arguably, jia has parental issues at the roots of their character concept xD)

i mean my most well received fics are both about the intersection of parental conflict and queerness!

tahir ⇢ what part of writing do you want to get better at?

Making more stylistically interesting decisions for certain. I dunno, I feel like I stick too closely to the standard third-person, past tense pov. It’s a classic for a reason! But I feel like I don’t do anything interesting with it? It’s just… that.

More than that, I would like to play around with tense and point of view!! It’d be a fun challenge but I’m also kinda scared that I’d run into more abstract territory and, like, it won’t come out well/wouldn’t be interesting to anyone but me ever xD

yeah!! mostly semicolons. I don’t understand how they work. I’m kinda just… intuiting where they’re supposed to go but I’m like half-certain every time I use one it’s wrong <333

In all honesty, I’d love to develop Jiahao’s connection to her cultures a lot more! Especially when I’m comparing her to Fiona, there’s a lot of depth missing that I’d love to plug in!!

angelou ⇢ which of your characters do you relate to the most?

hrm. Probably Fiona + Rin!! Fiona is very idealistic, romanticized version of someone I had wanted to grow up into!! There’s a lot of traits he has that I’d wished I could develop when I was much younger!! Rin, on the other hand, is a rather polished/altered version of how I see myself. It is preeeettty altered so it’s not a one-to-one by any means but it is pretty fun seeing how Rin develops outside of my personality!!

park ⇢ how do you combat writer's block?

Breaks and/or other creative tasks!! Sometimes, when a fic is just kicking me down, I have to walk away and do something else creative: like drawing, making an edit, or putting together a silly tune. Then, when I come back, I can look at it with fresh eyes!! (<- I also am a firm believer of the “five sentences back” method which states that roadblocks in a story could mean the issue was actually “five sentences back”)

Another tactic is rethinking the style!! Sometimes I wanna do something I thought would be fun and it’s… not going great. Sometimes a stylistic choice sounded better in my head than on paper 🤷
