Sometimes, for Diablo, it felt like him and Eeyore against the world. At the same time it felt the world had always been against them. Both of them had difficult pasts before Evermore, and even presently the memories haunted them both. Though they lived very different lives before coming into each other's that didn't deplete the bond the two shared. She was his closest friend and one of the only, maybe the only, person he really deeply cared about. The two were sat on his couch, a muted television on in front of them and music playing at a low volume to have some sort of background noise. More importantly there was a bottle and two glasses with matching liquid in them. Diablo had little to no self control. He didn't care how much or little he drank with Eeyore. It was her presence that mattered. She kept him calm but she also made him worry. Especially since she had went missing for months. Diablo reached for his glass and took a sip. He'd just indulged in other substances to top off the alcohol. He could feel the drugs pumping through his veins. His head turned to look at Eeyore. She was always so sad. He understood that sadness, but he masked his own with anger. "So, what's up with this boyfriend of yours? How come I haven't met him yet?" he asked, half teasing. Again, he worried. If anyone treated Eeyore poorly Diablo would call upon demons from hell to pay them a visit. "Or maybe you made him up. I know life can be boring, but damn, live a little. You can't contain your life inside of the same four walls." He meant well as he said it lightheartedly but knew the connotations of his words. He looked away and took another sip of his drink. "I suppose it doesn't matter as long as you're happy."

Diablo knew he had no time to think. People were appearing back in town. People who had gone missing. The moment Diablo had heard the news he sprung into action, running full force towards the river. She had to be there, he told himself. If she wasn't... No, he didn't want to think of that. He could have flown there. It may have been faster but the first semi-coherent thought Diablo had was to run to her. There were police cars around, people who looked distraught and confused, and then people like him who were just looking to be reunited with their loved ones. His heart was pounding hard and fast when he finally stopped running to catch his breath. His eyes scanned the area until he decided to walk up the river himself. He pushed by any other people on the same mission as him and made sure to analyze every flash of long, brown hair he saw until he found the one he was looking for. When he did he just looked at her for a moment, trying to see if she was visibly hurt in anyway. When Diablo was certain she wasn't he embraced her tightly, lifting her off the ground a bit as he did. "I'm so sorry. I didn't talk to you that day and I should have. I should have protected you better." He doesn't let go of her but does loosen his grip on her so he doesn't hurt her. "I'm so happy you're back." He had a million questions but didn't want to pry yet, instead he takes a step back and looks at her again. His hands rested on her shoulders, afraid if he couldn't physically know she was there that she would disappear again. "I was really worried about you."

Diablo hadn't felt social in what felt like ages. Most of his time spent outside of work was with Sibella or just sleeping a lot. He didn't particularly love the blazing summer heat, but he managed. He'd dressed for the weather, a tank top that was already off and draped over his shoulder, shorts that clearly had been jeans at one point and were now cut off at the knees, and a pair of sunglasses. He had a beer in his hand as he stood next to Eeyore in the line they were in to get something to eat. It seemed like forever since he'd seen her and it made him feel like a shitty friend. He knew Eeyore had her struggles and he should be there to support her more. A silence had fallen over them for a few minutes while they waited until he finally spoke up. "What are you getting? I really want fries but I've also never had deep fried Oreos and I really want to try those as well." He looked down at her after taking a sip from his beer. "They literally sell fries in a bucket. We could just share at this point."

Hans grinned as he clutched his cup of apple cider to his chest, he could spotted her instantly in a crowd, with her long black hair and dainty frame. Probably blissfully unware of what hung high above her, dangling from a awning. "Eeyore" he smiled, closing space between them to be just under the mistletoe. "What a surprise to you here of all places.. have you uh, looked up yet?"

There was something calming about the night hours. A moonlit sky with a chilly breeze beneath the tree was the perfect place to be, and with the company of Eeyore even money. They were sitting on a blanket, the shadows of the trees they were under concealing them from view. Conversation came and went with them, and sitting in silence together was not uncommon. Diablo was lost in thought. His usual demeanor was replaced with something else. Something more melancholic. There were a million thoughts running through his head, all eons away from where he was in reality. After a long while he finally leaned his back against the tree and spoke softly. "Where do you think we go when we die?" The thought of death was something that often plagued his thoughts, especially these days. He didn't want to die and live an eternity in some afterlife without her. "I don't think it's anywhere that great." Diablo looked over at Eeyore. "Are you afraid of dying?"
