So I keep reading these fics where Waterboy lives in like, a normal bedroom? With fabrics and rugs and curtains and a mattress? And everything is covered in plastic????
Like, one, sensory nightmare.
Two, as someone currently dealing with damp, that shit gets in your lungs and does not go away. I very much doubt Herman or Grandma would want to deal with that.
And so, I've started thinking about Herm's house. He doesn't have a lot of money, so maybe it's more realistic to think that he did live this sort of horror show of a life before joining SDN, but once he does they help out by designing him a bedroom.
First, they would build a full bathroom downstairs for Grandma, save her taking the lift up the stairs. Then, it's time to repurpose the upstairs bath.
(I'm basing this on my personal bathroom.)
1) already got a drain in the floor, so no changes there.
2) put down some of those all-weather indoor/outdoor rugs to reduce slippages on the floor.
3) fit a futon frame over the bathtub with cushions from outdoor furniture. They are comfortable but water resistant and dry quickly. The excess water will drain through the futon slats and down the drain of the tub.
4) rip out sinks and make space for a hanging wardrobe and dehumidifier
5) screens on windows so Herman can air his room out all the time and the cats don't fall to their deaths
6) hang shelves, add some tubing to protect any electrical devices such as a sound system or guitar amp
And that's it! No more plastic! No more puddles and soggy bed sheets. Now all the your/names and OCs and Roberts and Flambaes and whoever the hell else can bang Waterboy comfortably! (And no one gets pneumonia.)
