You know, if you rally against the "problematic" creators in your fandom, you're very likely to alienate the "unproblematic" creators too, right?

Because most artists and writers don't produce one particular type of art or fic. Sure, there often are themes that run through a creator’s work, but that is rarely the be-all and end-all of what they're interested in.

Yeah, that writer who posts kinky fic or the artist that draws spicy art is enjoying creating that (and good for them! They’re doing it for the love. For the joy of creation), but they likely also make fluffy, soft fics and art.

They can be interested in all aspects of, for example, vulnerability. Maybe that is expressed in characters exploring kink, but it also can a sweet fluffy fic where your OTP open up during first aid/wound care.

“Well, I don’t think they shouldn't create that kinky stuff, and I’m going to let them know that/vague about it in places I know they’ll see.”

Sure, and you can. Go off, I guess.

But do you know who also sees that?

Everyone else.

All the other people who want to create for your faves. And maybe they only want to create sweet, "unproblematic" content, but they also don’t know where you draw that line. They don’t know what you’re going to decide is bad and wrong and deserves harassment, either direct or insidious.

Not only are you potentially destroying the drive of “problematic” creators (which is so clearly the intent), you’re showing everyone watching that you believe in policing what is created in your fandom.

“Good. I don’t like seeing certain things.”

Okay, go off, but dang, are we not side-eying you when you then complain about the lack of fics or art in your fandom.

#just block #block and move on #and also acknowledge that you straight up dont like certain people in fandom #and it’s not about what they make or how they contribute #you just DO NOT LIKE THEM #which is fiiiiiiine #you don’t need to invent a million reasons why their creative outputs are BAD #and evil #it’s okay to not vibe with people lads #anyway…#once again soooo over ‘why is there not more content for X’ from people who are also like ‘people who make this particular thing are bad-#-and evil and need to be/should be run out of fandom #and then turn around and cry because they don’t get the things they want handed on a platter #the more creatives you run out of fandom the less creative works you see #the stuff you don’t like as well as the stuff you do #it aint rocket science #going after people for creating things you don’t like when it’s easy to just not see that stuff reduces all the stuff #sincerely a person who’s been put on ‘lists’ for creating the bad types of fic when the vast majority of my works are T and G #and if someone just creates the most out there spicy content imaginable time after time #so what?#it is super duper easy to not see that man #if the fact it EXISTS is enough to send you into a doom spiral maybe log out for a bit

I've been drawing the Redfields as black since I fucking got here, and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one doing it meaning there's no lack of canon depicted Redfields for others to look through. Just scroll past my stuff or block me, but don't put this dumb shit on my art posts when I work my ass off to make it.
