Just thinking that a Junkie!Lock as plot device-- wherein Sherlock’s character has been reduced to being first and foremost an Addict or Junkie--- and one that has all the worst problems associated with the Hollywood trope-- well, that actually hurts Johnlock, it doesn’t move Sherlock and John any closer to each other.Â
Now, Mary has a really good reason to try to keep John away from Sherlock, and actually, JOHN has a compelling reason to insist that Sherlock keeps his distance.Â
Think: The baby. Heroin addicts, intravenous addicts of all sorts can contract diseases like HIV and Hepatitis. Not safe for a baby. Raging addicts can be violent, erratic. Again, not safe.Â
So, Sherlock’s effectively out of the picture. (At least John and Mary’s picture.)
If Sherlock’s a bonafide Junkie-- well, doesn’t that wreck his career-- err, even more than it already has been wrecked by Moriarty, Magnussen-- and Mary?Â
Is the next series to be all about how Mycroft and Greg get Sherlock clean?
John can’t really come to the rescue. Why?
