Yes, I strongly believe that the ozone layer has a big hole in it but I didn’t know that it’s situated directly above my flat.

Today I finally was able to catch up with Timeless’ current season and mind you there will be a new episode tomorrow, but unlucky me I will be in the confines of the Operating Room by then, hence I will not be able to watch it till the afternoon of Tuesday, Philippine time. Nevertheless, the new season’s worth the wait and I’m glad NBC renewed it after telling us fans otherwise. As much as I want to loop you all in, I won’t because I’m too weak at handling spoilers so watch it yourself! BUT, BUT, WYATT AND LUCY FINALLY HAD SOME WOO TIME! There, you see, spoilers turn me on.

As can be implied above, tomorrow will be the start of my 2 week rotation in Anesthesiology. It will be the last leg of my Junior Internship/Clerkship training in medical school. This means that comes July, I’m not gonna be the lowest mammal in the hospital anymore! I’m gonna be a Senior Intern, but blimey, I’m still the second lowest mammal. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get a Duty status tomorrow, this means that I will be From duty on April 20, this means that I get to spend the day, oh at least the night (cause I get out of duty 4PM), with my girl on her birthday! Yes, I consider myself lucky even though I will go on duty first, even though we’re only a duo in our status (Pre and From team all have three clerks). Nevertheless, I will make sure that I will learn a lot during my last two weeks as a junior intern and I’m glad that I get to spend it by taking people’s pain away.

Hello Andrea,

Yesterday was your birthday. It was far earlier than your parents, your grandmother, and your aunt were hoping it would be. It was definitely not what the docs were expecting. Yet for some reason your birthday was yesterday in the late hours of the night, and it was also your goodbye too. 

In a perfect world, your birthday would have some time in June or July. You would have been born to the sound of rainfall and not to the oppressive stillness of a summer night. In a perfect world your mom would never stop looking at you since she fought so hard for your life. Your dad would be calling all your aunts and uncles to come over and see you because you’ve arrived safe and sound. Your grandmother would be telling everyone in the ward how beautiful her first living grandchild is. You would be the little baby that all the interns would be cooing over and that the residents would take a few extra moments for because you are that special. 

But dear Andrea, this isn’t a perfect world. You are too perfect for this world and maybe that’s why you couldn’t stay. You fought so hard, I heard, but everything was just too much. It was no one’s fault. Everyone did their best for you. And yet for some inexplicable reason you just had to go. All the docs know a lot of things, but there is nothing we can say or do to heal your parents’ broken hearts. If only we could turn back time. If only we could figure out how to have given you those extra weeks to allow you a better chance. If only we could have met you earlier. If only...if only. But that’s not going to bring you back and that’s what hurts most of all. 

I just wish you were still here, little darling. But wherever you are, I know you’re in a better place, where you can love your family in a way they cannot quite fathom in this world. You are loved too, and always will be.

I’ll always be praying for you, kid. Thank you for the time, no matter how brief

Me: Hello Ma'am. First baby?

Fun idea: Taking the old diesel train home from work instead of the usual route

Not so fun idea: Catching the noontime ride, which is unusually crowded

Stupid idea: Standing right in the middle of the crowd in the train
