June fruit drop - I’ve just learned about this natural phenomenon! @royjbarker asked me in an earlier post whether I was going to thin the tree and being the inexperienced gardener, I said I was leaving them all. I’m glad that nature knows what to do. I’ve been reading up on it and it says for inexperienced gardeners, I should consider thinning after the June drop, so I’ll be more ruthless then. It seems counterintuitive to remove fruit when it has taken so hard to pollinate and grow fruit, but it helps the remaining fruit to get bigger and juicier, and to prevent the tree from overloaded damage. So sorry @monicaleunghs and @nicola_wai, I’m not sure I’ll have enough to make you #peachjam 😂 #junedrop #junefruitdrop #containergardening #balconygarden #balconygardening #peachwatch2019 #peachwatch #peaches #thegardeninggoodlife (at Surbiton) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzVgw4Ng72J/?igshid=1x00cg85z8xxo
