We're meant to be
I know we are
Making History, and making up His story.
You have to be blind to not know what has happened today in the United States.
Both straight and gay marriage alike is now legal everywhere.
This is not a post stating my opinion either way, this is a post about the responses to the decision I have seen that sadden and concern me.
If you choose to start a debate on this blog or a link to this blog I will shut you down.Â
Here’s what I see:
I see a decent amount of people that may not lead or even support that lifestyle, that are still spreading a message of peace and love. Thank you for being mature enough to do so, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone deserves respect.Â
Of course, I see people that are genuinely happy and excited for the change.
I see “christians” trying to show their spiritual balls by tearing apart the decision or those who support it, trying to convince people why the world is doomed. I see haste and words that people will soon regret speaking/typing.
I see trend hoppers who are pretending to care more than they do in order to elevate their social status, as they do with every other trend that has recently come and gone.Â
I see social media being used as a floor for debate and people making themselves look foolish.
Here’s what I do and don’t think:
I don’t think that Jesus would get into facebook debates talking about “anal sex” and trying to prove his point to make him feel better about himself.Â
I think that he would treat every human with equal amounts of respect and love.
I don’t think that we are entitled to speak for God and determine who is right or wrong about the situation, I think we are entitled to love people by keeping ourselves quiet when we need to, and speaking to them in an appropriate setting if we want to discuss something of this nature.Â
I think that you need to get over yourself, love your brother, sister, straight friends, gay friends, transgender friends, and let God handle everything else. If you have something positive to say, say it, and if you don’t, then hold your tongue/fingers.
This is a humble opinion of what I think needs to happen in response to today. If you find it changing your opinion of me, then keep that to yourself.
