I have just finished a project where I had to look into Jumping Jacks. This is a jointed flat figure, a cross between a puppet and a paper doll. The figures joints are connected to pull strings which causes the arms and legs to move up and down. History has show that they have been around for thousands of years, the earliest puppets were found in Egyptian tombs made of ivory. In the 1700 they were so popular in England and Germany known as Hamplemann, and in France as Pantins. These puppets were small masterpieces hand made and hung in most homes by the mantelpieces. Everyone even the nobility carried the puppets around. They were made depicting satire and political figures, or even libertine figures. Some of them also contained special messages. Puppets and jumping jacks have been found all over the world. My jumping jack I made out of copper and silver, and of course at this time of year it could only be a Father Christmas. He has moving arms one holding the bail for the neck chain, and moving - even Ho Ho Ho #jumpingjack #fatherchristmas #hoho #copper #silverjewellery #handmadewithlove #jillbelldesigns https://www.instagram.com/p/CIQCZ2dhfO5/?igshid=g0xms8gvkz7p
