Focus Features, Universal Pictures’ specialty studio, are hosting the Hollywood premiere of Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast at the (new) Academy Museum (of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles) on Monday, Nov. 8; that pic having won the top prize at the Toronto Film Festival, the Grolsch People’s Choice Award which has traditionally been an Oscar bellwether.

folks i think i did a cool thing! After not colouring in years, one of my favourite costume designers Ruth E. Carter (won an oscar for Black Panther!) started releasing colouring pages in this troubled time (plus also publicity for the academy museum which is opening soon apparently *edit: plus plus her birthday!). And I got real inspired! cracked out the colour pencils which I'd almost forgotten I had, and happily lost myself in wikipedia for a while looking up stuff about the Yoruba people and religion, as the original sketch is called "Yorubaland".

And of course i only remember that beyoncé did a particular music video because apparently she was the spitting image of a god known as Oshun, and the skirt kind of matched, so bright yellow it was! The other colours (pink, white, blue ((kinda turquoise in the end)) ) are also associated with Oshun in various regions. I was trying for a beaten-metal look on the yellow headpiece and jewellery.

Media were coloured pencil and extrafine sharpies in different colours.
