A friend of my mom's was kind enough to paint a portrait of my monsters. Fortunately for her, the monsters were kind enough to pose for their portrait.
It’s so nice when they actually use the crap you buy for them. Â
Most cats hide at the vet. Â These two weirdos like to go exploring. Â
I can't even with these two sometimes.

So if you ever wonder why I call him Jumping Monster...
So of my two kitties, the gray tabby Jumping Monster is like, scary smart.  Part of the reason I had to get a new kitchen is that he immediately figured out how to open all the cabinet doors.  I had tied the door handles together on the upper cabinets and placed heavy things in front of the doors of the lower cabinets.  Then, a couple days before the demo was set to begin on my kitchen, he figured out out the floor was slippery enough he could shove the heavy things out of the way.  My new kitchen has self-closing cabinet doors, so there’s enough resistance there that it’s too heavy for him to open.  Except for the one folding door underneath the sink.  It took him two days to figure out how to open that one and now I probably need to get an actual child lock. Â
He can open the drawer on the coffee table.  He figured out how to balance on the stairway railing just to prove he could do it.  He sits quietly on my lap while I’m on my computer and watches the screen and I am frightened by what that could mean. Â
This all set the stage for this morning.  I have one of this wake-up light alarm clocks that slowly gets brighter for a half-hour before your set alarm before finally making a sound--in my case, birds chirping.  Whether it’s by their own internal clock or something to do with the alarm clock, usually about five to ten minutes before the alarm clock goes off, the cats wake me up.
Except for this morning, where they decided that 5:30 was an a+ plus time for a wake up call.  So I kicked them out of the bedroom.  I kicked the orange tabby out first because she was being annoying and I’m trying to teach her that this behavior isn’t acceptable in the middle of the night.  Then the gray tabby got the boot too for gnawing on my finger. Â
Right after I kick him out, I hear birds chirping in the hallway.  For Christmas my mom got them a bird toy that chirps when they wack it.  Immediately upon getting kicked out, he went and got the one toy that mimics the sound that’s supposed to wake me up in the morning and started playing with it right outside my bedroom.    Â
Scary smart. Â Scary, scary smart. Â
Man, Nano is going to be a pain this year with all the interruptions.
