So I have a technical question about the show that Iām hoping you can help me with (Iām working on a fic, and I need clarification on something). When the fire truck gets blown up in 2x18, was the bomb inside/strapped under the truck already and then had a delayed detonation, or was it like planted in the street somewhere waiting for the 118 truck to pass over it? Iāve watched the episode multiple times but itās still unclear to me. Maybe Iām just missing something?
Hi Nonnie! And thank you for the interesting question. I believe that the show never makes it clear, so for your fic purpose you can go with either! As a fellow fic writer, I know the need to be as close to canon as possible, so Iāll add that I personally would assume Freddie somehow managed to plant the bomb on the truck. One reason is my experience of living in a country that used to be plagued by suicide bombings and what I can say based on that is that most primitive bombs like the ones Freddie is most likely to be building usually work like that. The other is that, as difficult as we can imagine it would be for Freddie to get into the station and plant the bomb on the truck, placing it somewhere on a busy road and hoping the truck would pass over the bomb, when Freddie couldnāt know for sure that it would, plus how he would need some sort of surveillance equipment to follow the truck and make sure itās the right one passing in the street over where the bomb is planted... and how would he know there would be no other car to accidentally trigger the bomb if itās planted in the street...? Basically, more logical problem with that scenario than the other one. I hope this helps and good luck with your fic! xoxox

Just read your meta for 413 and I'm convinced that there's a reason that Buck's in his civilian clothes. Ā They could have so easily had him and Chimney dressed for work when they got the call from Charlie. Ā But no, Buck's in street clothes and Chimney changed into his uniform. Ā Because at the moment of the shooting, Buck isn't in the role of firefighter. Ā He's in the role of bystander calling 911 to save the person he loves.

That Buck was the only one there out of the team, that he was in his civvies, that he didnāt have to accompany Eddie to this place (like Chim didnāt), that everything Buck will do, he will do not because of his duties as a firefighter, but because his relationship with Eddie matters so much to him. Eddie being the one to have his feelings realization first and be pining has come as a surprise to a lot of us. Do you think this is a possibility for season 5? I think a lot of next ep is going to determine just what that āfollow your heartā is about.
Nonnie, I agree, I always thought it would be Buck who realizes his feelings first, If thatās what we get, Eddie being the first to realize heās got feelings for his best friend would be quite surprising. I keep going back and forth, because the narrative so far sure seems to be building towards that, but at the same time, going on the promo, ep 414 seems to be more from Buckās POV than from Eddieās, so... You know what? I kind of want them both realizing their feelings and both pining away and both being too dumb to realize itās mutual. How fucking awesome would that be? Not likely, but I would love it SO MUCH. And of course, we know promos can be deceiving, so Iām over here, eyes wide open and trying not to count the seconds until the next ep, because I really canāt wait to see them showing us how they planned to wrap up Buckās unresolved storyline with Taylor and Eddieās āfollow your heartā moment regarding Ana... I love your metas, so after the recent episode (*brain's still processing*) I noticed how the showrunners put Bobby's and Athena's dispute about partners right before THAT scene? I found it odd until I got that Bobby talked about work AND life partners. It's placement it's kind of odd, story writing wise UNLESS you put Buck and Eddie in another and new kind of light.

Calm down, he's scheduled to appear in the next movie. all this talk is just smoke screen.
...I mean, okay, but:
a. there is no information about how much/what role heās going to play in the next movie - technically, he was in this one, for a whole five minutes before being brutally killed off with what was arguably a cinematically unnecessary amount of violence
b. even if they bring him back in the next movie it still happened in this one, and odds are high that heās probably going to stay dead post phase 3
c. smokescreen or not, everything thatās being said by people about it is still obnoxious as hell (this specific post isnāt even specifically about the filmmakers so much as the responses of viewers)
d. speaking as someone who has repeatedly talked about how obnoxious the idea that thereās nothing to be done with a villain post-redemption is, I really...this isnāt just something to do with loki but rather a general narrative cop out
e. honestly Iām reacting kind of poorly to thatĀ ācalm downā, itās a little condescending and I donāt appreciate it

This is a sequel to this prompt, set after Meta Fiction (except Gabriel stuck around with Cas in this version)

āYou could start with āIām sorry,āā Sam glared at him, eyes bright and shiny with the tears that hunter and angel alike were doing their best to ignore.
Gabriel shoved his hands into his pockets. āI did what I did for a reason,ā he snapped back. āI wasnāt trying to hurt you, Sam.ā
āWhat do you call it, then?ā Sam snapped, more angry than disappointed now. āDid you think Iād never find out? Did you think I wouldnāt care that you-ā
āI thought you were dead.ā
Samās jaw muscles flexed. āWe havenāt exactly been laying low, the last few years.ā

Sam closed his eyes for a minute. When he opened them they were still shiny with unshed tears. āSo you thought that meant I wouldnāt want to know you were alive?ā
Gabrielās face twitched. āI thought you could do without your old life popping back up and trying to drag you back, yes.ā
They didnāt look at each other for a long few minutes, both men trying to get their emotions under control.ā
Finally, Sam looked up. The tears had finally spilled over. He met Gabrielās eyes and the angel made an aborted movement towards his former lover.
āYou still should have told me,ā Sam said.
Gabriel nodded, once, jaw clenched. He turned and walked towards the motel door where Castiel was waiting.
