What interests Juleus about Obsidian? Does he know about Obi's rough mental state?
Oh, so much!! Juleus is very much so in love with Obsidian. While Jules would say Obsidian is useful to have around, thats just his pisspoor way of saying he loves that fool. Obsidian talks to everyone the same way, which is definitely one of the first things that piqued Jules’ interest! The trolls who tend to have the most seniority on Jules’ ship tend to be the ones that can hold their own. Like Typhon! Obsidian is a good leader, a good solider. When hes on Jules’ ship, he’s helpful to have around. He has a funny sense of humor and doesn’t ask too much. Obi plays guitar. He’s good conversation. And tbh just look at Obi, he’s very attractive! Obsidian is the only person Juleus would allow to get far in any conversation regarding his descendants. Any arguments Jules and Obi did have over their sweeps were about Chai and Leo.
But Juleus respects Obsidian a fair amount! Obsidian wears Typhon & Rienah’s symbols, but not Jules. Juleus also isn’t incredibly open about his relationship with Obsidian because he knows that could damage Obsidian’s reputation as a respectable leader. Obi doesn’t need Jules’ name tied to him to be successful. Jules wants Obsidian to be respected without his interference.
I think on some level Juleus is aware? At the very least can tell there’s more beneath the surface. But Juleus won’t ask, and Obsidian won’t tell. They both have experienced loss and are handling it in completely different ways. If Juleus was a little more mentally sound himself, he would probably be more open to pressing Obsidian about it. Obsidian carries a lot of grief on his shoulders and chooses to deflect it with humor. Juleus carries a similar but vastly different grief, which he has instead turned into apathy and anger.
Im not sure if Juleus would ever get a prosthetic arm like he could definitely afford one. And could use it. But hes nearly 13 feet tall and built like a brick shithouse the arm would be SO heavy and the upkeep??? Ive decided the reason hes armless is bcos nobody wants to build an arm that big that can withstand fuchsia strength + space wear n tear.

Bruuno is afraid of the dentist and just pulls out his teeth with plyers. Its okay, he's a shark! Monark trait, his teeth just like. grow back ig. like a shark! So if his tooth is bugging him he just pulls it out. Typically w/o warning. One of his rails has a jar of his teeth because its funny.
Leonra is fairly faceblind, typically resolving to remembering things like horn shapes or what color shirt a person is wearing that day. It takes a while before someone truly can be remembered on face alone.
The only tattoos of Jawska's that he himself wanted and got willingly were the ones on his face. In fact, most of the blackout work on his arms were very poor cover-ups. That isn't a huge problem anymore, since he doesn't have arms. Also- Jawska is the shortest Monark! Jk topped out at about 7'2, making him the shortest currently alive Monark.
Archai was raised in the Fleet, and genuinely struggled when he was discharged. He had no real concept of what to do with his life. If he had only ever been created to serve in the Fleet, to serve under Deepbite, then what good was he now? It took a little while before he was able to push all of that down deep enough to live. He still hasn't confronted any of that, instead choosing to just exist in the moment. Too much stress makes him really sick anyways.
Juleus is incapable of hurting a child. Which is why he himself does not raise any of the spawn he pulls into the Fleet, he typically has someone else do it for him. Or, in Leonra's case, has a whole ship raise them. Juleus doesn't really step in until they're adults, in which case he has NO qualms hurting them. Children...? He can't. It's the reason Bruuno lived- Juleus would take the rejected wrigglers to someone else to cull. Except Boe decided against culling Bruuno.
