tell me about the goat thingy during Christmas (I bit late yes) like the mari lawd is mostly men in going around with the horse to sing ryme to everyone in the village for food and drink and its kinda like a rabbit battle, if the mari lawd wins they can raid their fridge (tho most people have a prepared table of snacks and drinks) and If they loose they do to the next house) idk is the goat is your tradition, I just saw you post it alot, if not, what Christmas/ winter/ or New year traditions do you have
Hehe yes, the julebukken is kinda the same just a goat XD "Going julebukk" is people dressing up as goat like creatures, going from door to door and sing carols for candy and booze. Sometimes the julebukk can be scary, and was told to get in dinner partys for food, punishing children, trick people etc.
And the we got the straw version(that is now used as a decoration), The goat had an important place in pre-Christian culture, and that its meaning has survived in the Nordic countries partly in the name of a straw figure that is used today as a Christmas decoration. Traditions such as a custom of bringing a straw goat unseen into a neighbors house, and then the neighbor trying to bring it back unseen, tell that the goat has had a meaning of Santana's incarnation of Saint Nicholas.
So a very fun character ^^
Here's more info in english, but much more in the norwegian version that u can probably translate via the website:3
