So the way my lock screen is positioned makes it look like Clint is wearing those glasses they give out on New Year's Eve.
Look, I've got a couple asks about this issue, so here goes:
I understand that my fave is problematic. This is so very far from the first time that Jeremy has said something problematic, but here's the deal: he's still my fave. He's learning, and I think that out of everything, his friendship with Scarlett will help this lesson stick. Keep in mind, too, that he isn't a household name. He doesn't do a lot of press junkets, especially up until recently. Most people couldn't tell you two movies he's been in that aren't The Avengers. He has very rarely had the opportunity to be in a situation when he can learn a lesson like this. Yes, his apology was a non apology, but he's now aware that he pissed off a bunch of people, and I'm sure Scarlett will tell him off on her own, too. Remember, Renner got into acting late. I would say the first movie that really got him some attention was S.W.A.T., and that came out when he was 32. He's not like a lot of the actors and actresses we know and love who have been in the industry and in front of cameras for most of their lives. And after S.W.A.T., he doesn't have a really BIG movie that catches a lot of attention for five years, and when he does it's The Hurt Locker. Suddenly he goes from being a semi well known name to Oscar nominee. He does a couple ok TV series and a mediocre movie and then BAM! He does The Town and winds up with a second Oscar nomination in 2010. Renner's fame, the stardom he knows now, didn't really hit until he was almost forty. That's a lot of years of people not pointing out when you were saying sexist, ableist, or even potentially transphobic (that's another incident from years ago) shit. It's a lot of behavior to unlearn in a short period of time. I'm sure he regrets saying it. I'm sure he got a call from Scarlett and did the thing where he hangs his head and rubs the back of his neck because he's embarrassed or ashamed. But mostly what I'm choosing to take from this is hope that he'll learn from this, and do better in the future. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, because there is no excuse for what he said, but I am trying to give you guys some context about why you shouldn't be calling for his head and why we should be trying to educate him about why what he said was offensive, rather than just yelling about it at him.
No 3D glasses for the character who WEARS A SIGNATURE PAIR OF SUNGLASSES?!
Chris Hemsworth nominated Jeremy Renner for the ice bucket challenge.
I am so excited for it. I am. I am. I a-aam.

Seonaid is doing her weekly reblog spree off of my tumblr and I found this gem in her tags about Renner:
#you all don't understand my love for Paul bettany #paul bettany #that other dude with them arms
THAT OTHER DUDE WITH THEM ARMS.
I wanna lick your face
iamroboteye whispering to herself across the room, reblogging pictures of Jeremy Renner
I'm supposed to be writing a feature story for a local magazine and studying for my Spanish test on Monday, but instead I'm scrolling through Tumblr looking at pictures of Jeremy Renner.
