I don't think demons go to Purgatory either. To be honest, my headcanon is that both the essence of an angel and a demon are destroyed once they are killed with no way of resurrecting them. Especially like you would think the angels would've tried to bring an archangel back or the demons would try to ressurect Lilith so they could raise Lucifer again. I think all angels and demons are just destroyed and only God can reverse it (like with Cas)
I think that since an angel grace is pure creation as defined in canon, once an angel dies they become one with the whole of it. They still exist but I don’t think they so much have a consciousness in that state, just the sense of wholeness, of being a part of everything. I also like to think that there are means to tab into them like there are ways to communicate with other souls, but that it’d be much more difficult in terms of spellwork or at least require much stronger mojo than your average psychic could have, especially because angels aren’t meant to be individuals and the enhanced lack of an individual self would be a major obstacle in calling one back.
I also like to think that there’s a demon purgatory out there somewhere to purify them, since they are human souls at core, but I haven’t thought about that very much.
