Rewatching legacies and crying...

I just got to the pageant episode and I always thought the audience was just never gonna get told why josie and Penelope broke up but after penelope's whole "read about the merge and you'll understand why I did everything that I did" I'm like

I think Penelope read what Alaric wrote about the merge then freaked out Bc she loves josie and doesn't want her to die. So she started pushing josie to stand up for herself more, especially against Lizzie. And that's why they broke up and why Penelope is so against Lizzie.
