so, because i have a lot of thoughts and backstory things that need explaining within the story, is there anyway you can infodump but... politely? Maybe not the right word but a way where you can get all that information across in a few big segments or many small segments spread over something else happening?
Hi lovely! That's a great question!
I believe this is something that will take some fine-tuning and editing. Rather than trying to place things strategically, I would recommend infodumping whatever comes into your brain first. Write it as it naturally comes.
Then, when you edit, you can splice up those segments and spread them throughout your manuscript in a way that reads more smoothly.
You can absolutely incorporate backstory and explain what's going on, no matter how much you have to unload! It just takes a little finesse and adjustments until you get there!
But you can definitely do it! Just get everything out onto the page and then you can rearrange, cut and paste, nip and tuck, until you've got all the details needed fitting nicely in your manuscript! :)

Ok ok I just came across your blog and I 100% support literally everything you've said about Cinderella, and since I've had this thought brewing, I'm gonna say it: Cinderella should've had a masquerade mask in Into the Woods. Like, the musical is absolutely amazing and I listen to it far too much, but, like. She wants to conceal her identity, and so she wears the mask, and it's probably got bird feathers on it too (bonus, it's also her glasses)

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA!! i absolutely ADORE cinderella’s glasses, they’re my FAVORITE PART of the show, so DEFINITELY SECONDED. it would be a really cool way to talk about how she’s hiding her identity/true nature!! the baker doesn’t recognize her as the princess because he’s never actually seen her face!! she’s wearing bird feathers because she TALKS TO BIRDS and it’s A LITTLE ODD!! THEY’RE HER GLASSES!!

So I had a few running ideas but it's also 3 AM and like five chapters ahead of the chapter one that I'm currently sitting at so I decided "oh i should plan out the first chapter" so that happened and I hope I can work on that some! Currently I just have a few descriptions of rooms and beating around the bush of "uh oh dead and/or missing parents oh no" and also came up with a great line "Please, watch over me. Heavens know I can't do it for myself, I barely look straight ahead."

unfortunately i don't know much about it! i've meant to listen to it for years (lmao, like i have with literally every musical under the planet) but have never gotten around to it. iirc, it involves shakespeare and has a song about how hard it is to write sometimes? but that's all i know about it! tell me more?
okay so since I was thinking back to masquerade Cinderella and I wanted to draw it, I must inquire; Phoenix-inspired ballgown? I was thinking of yellow birds and somehow a phoenix came before any other like actual bird
GASP! oh my GOD i love that. cinderella is almost always associated with blue and such colors (thanks to disney, as it always is) so i REALLY like the concept of putting her in yellow/orange/red. and isn't her story, at its heart, a story about rebirth?
