It depends on a lot of things. On the surface, it sounds like a no-brainer to move forward if he shared these fantasies. But it would be one thing for him to be interested in IR in general, and for him to discover that his long-term girlfriend had been fantasizing about men very different from himself.

Tristan and Isolde. 

In this foundational Western romance, the brave knight Tristan has lost his parents at birth and been raised by King Mark of Cornwall. 

The king is set to marry the young Irish princess, Isolde, and sends Tristan as his most trusted knight to escort his future bride.

During the stormy voyage back to Cornwall, the knight and the princess fall madly in love, and although Isolde marries the king, she continues a secret affair with Tristan.

This story would become even more powerful with a Black man playing Tristan. I imagine Damson Idris' towering presence playing off Sadie Sink as the red-headed Irish princess.

A very good question. My advice is to look for the positive side to it.

Yes, your white cultural heritage is fading. But another culture is taking its place. Black music, Black art, and Black beauty standards are increasingly being celebrated. White culture is downplayed or recast with Blacks as the heroes.

All of this is a good thing. White culture has for far too long enjoyed an unjust hegemony. Through force, Europe and America has dominated the rest of the world, forcing our culture and values down their throats.

But now this use of force has been delegitimized, and in the free marketplace of ideas Black culture is winning out. White culture is passé. If you're white, this can hurt.

Instead, think about all the joy this is bringing to Black people. Think about the little Black girls enjoying seeing a Black Ariel in theaters. Think about the Black teenage boys knowing they will one day kiss a white girl without having to worry about a lynch mob.

Celebrate the demise of white culture. The world will be a better place without it.
