almost is never enough.

moon jongup. two words. ten letters. enough to bring him back to the past, to where everything began almost three years ago, in ravenclaw’s boys room. he was an enigma back then, a new transfer from durmstrang in the middle of their sixth year, casually strolling around hogwarts’ interior as if he was meant to be there. baekhyun being the forgetful bloke he was didn’t even know about jongup’s status as a transfer student until they became close sometime before the summer break, befriending the taller right away and bonding upon potions. his durmstrang background was a mere facade of what he truly is; a warm, kindhearted boy with a face too straight to come off as ‘friendly’.
and now, here they are, in the streets of london. they’re both in their twenties, baekhyun in his casual attire that consisted of an oversized hoodie he stole and a pair of skinny jeans and sneakers. his usual pretentious outfit discarded on the floor of his shared apartment before he went grocery shopping. baekhyun managed to crack his rectangular smile as he carried the bag towards jongup’s way.
it’s funny how they met, really. one moment baekhyun was on autopilot mode, the next he felt something hard slapping against his face. the spine of the magazine hitting the bridge of his nose causing his eyes to sting. but if the magazine didn’t fly towards his way, baekhyun wouldn’t even notice the familiar face among the sea of strangers before him.
“jongup. it’s you, right? moon jongup??”
