#jongdae request

He was your best friend inside work and out. He brought you out of your shell but was also great at calming you down. He was the best partner at karaoke and told horrible jokes that made you laugh whether you liked it or not. Over the years he had sat with you through bad breakups, family fights, and work stresses. 

And you had done the same for him. 

He had gone from rooming in a house with eleven other men, to just a few of his best friends. The jokingly called their house the CBX-Zone, but you refused to call it that. Xiumin and Baekhyun were used to you coming over and cooking for them and bringing Jongdae treats. Luckily, Xiumin kept the place pretty spotless so you never dreaded coming over.

Although you and Jongdae worked at the same place, you were in different departments, so you only ever saw each other at work if you met up for lunch or at company parties.

For this year’s holiday party you had convinced him to act as the office santa. Not like it took much convincing, I mean he loved the holidays.

Once he’d done his obligatory passing out small presents, he found you waiting for him. By the eggnog of course.

When he walked up to you to hand you your holiday gift, you passed him a glass. He grinned and the two of you clinked glasses before each taking a sip.

You took a look around the office, seeing all the smiley faces and people bobbing along to the music when all of a sudden you felt a hand on your face. 

On your lips to be exact.

“Jongdae? What are you doing?”

“Oh just hold still. You’ve got some eggnog left on your lips.” he said, wiping it off. 

You would’ve just let it go and rolled your eyes if it weren’t for what he did next.

He liked the thumb that had your bits of eggnog on it.

You made a choked noise as you felt your face get red.

“What?” he said innocently, “I’m not about to waste some perfectly good eggnog.”

You just hummed in your throat nonchalantly and took another sip, trying not to focus on his own lips as he mirrored you. You tried to ignore the heat in your cheeks and the thump in your chest, both of which were happening more and more frequently whenever you were around Jongdae but that you refused to acknowledge.

“You know,” he started, “I think it’s high time someone kicked off the sing alongs, don’t you?”

“As if you need an excuse to start singing,” you laughed at him.

He handed you his glass as he ran to the front of the room and picked up a microphone attached to a little karaoke mission. Everyone in the room cheered him on as he hit some buttons and the song began. 

You had expected a classic like ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ or something like that. But you should’ve known Jongdae would have wanted a whole different classic.

As Jongdae started singing the first few bars to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ you set down the glasses you were holding to walk up to him, laughing at his antics as he walked around the front as if he was on stage.

And when he sang the iconic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” line? He pointed straight at you with a wink, getting catcalls from your coworkers and making both you and Jongdae blush.

Something told you this holiday season was going to be different from the last ones you’d spent together.
