CS + anything regency-ish? 😏
You might have seen this post about Regency Jewel Queen?
The second book, The Rogue That Wasn’t No More would center around Lady Emma Swan, finally reunited with her family when she comes from America to enter London society. I’m still torn on whether is that she was kidnapped as a child and now found or if James was the heir and David the spare and David left for America with MM when their father, the Duke cut him off for marrying her. When James dies with no heir, David becomes Duke, little Leo is a Marquess and Emma becomes *the* marital mart sought out debutant due to the size of the dowry and the connections. Her parents do not want her to marry for anything other than love and Emma doesn’t want to get married at all.
Raised as a commoner, soon the beauty gets labeled as a prickly one and would have moved to the category of wallflower, but she has a major dowry and therefore there are several fortune hunters pullulating through her.
Enter Lt Killian Jones and his roguish offer to keep the idiots away from her by helping her with a scandalous scene or two.
Killian doesn't need money (he himself was the second son of a duke after all and now is the brother of a Duke, and considering Regina can’t conceive, he might even inherit everything) and he doesn't care about titles. He has his lovely state on the countryside - nearby the sea, that he loves and he can't wait to retreat there after the Season. But in the meantime, there is some fun to be had with young widows and gaming tables in London.
You can imagine that is one of those stories in which they end up making out in a secluded library with no idea how they got there and they are discovered, causing the scandal of the season. Liam insists Killian marries her, Emma refuses to marry and they all end up chasing one another through country estates and manors until they finally elope to Gretna Green and get married.
no, I have not been reading way too many regency novels. You can’t prove it. ask @sambethe she’ll tell you I’m not.
send me a line, a trope, a scenario, a period, a title, anything + ship and I’ll give you a 5 sentence short story :)
