Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Jonathan is immediately captivated by Sarah and excited as he considers all the different possibilities and perspectives she brings into his life. Even though he rejects her “leave it to destiny and chance” idea at first, it sticks to him like glue, and a few years later he’s obsessed with it and totally on board, letting it dictate his decisions. Jonathan pursues any and all ideas with enthusiasm and his infectious delight in them drags others into it with him. He’s a dreamer as much as a doer, and loves that Sarah can talk about unusual things.

Introverted Thinking (Ti): He pulls apart Sarah’s ideas when they first meet; how is leaving something this important (their instant kismet) to chance rational? He goes on to constantly analyze her feelings, her behaviors, his feelings, his behaviors, whether or not he’s doing the right thing, if destiny exists, etc., as he struggles to figure out what he really wants and pursue it. He rationalizes everything, waffling between idealism and pessimism (well, destiny isn’t on my side today) and his own incredulousness that he’s even considering “fate” (what am I even doing?!).

Extroverted Feeling  (Fe): Jonathan is extremely free and open with his feelings; he tells Sarah numerous times through their first date how much he likes her. He tries to appeal to her on an emotional level and get her name and phone number. He says how much he doesn’t want this to end, and wouldn’t they be great together? Then he goes home and talks to someone else about it, about how he feels in his current relationship, about his wondering if he should pursue Sarah after the long pause, etc. He worries about what other people will think and how his girlfriend may react, and doesn’t come clean with her for awhile out of fear of hurting her feelings.
