Here at Visenyc.com we like to consider ourselves nightlife connoisseurs we've been to a couple of great parties through our lives and experienced great moments when the crowd goes wild over a record or the dj is just destroying his set (in a good way). In a recent conversation with friends we found ourselves discussing how nightlife is no longer the same in New York City. With that said I found a trailer documentary about Sundays at the Tunnel nightclub.Â
The tunnel on Sundays was the place to be, it was a like a free concert because every artist who was releasing an album the following day would do a party with Dj Funkmaster Flex. Even though we're too young to get in (we did try though lol) just hearing about it on the radio made the visenyc team go downtown and just stand outside and watch the mobs of people on line waiting to get in.
The trailer is done by Streetfunktv and at the time they were a public access show that would show footage on weekly basis which you had to live in Manhattan or Brooklyn to even watch it. Public access channels were the equivalent of what youtube.com is today for young kids now.Â
I really hope they get to release this trailer because it captured a time in hip hop where so many great artist release impeccable music. Rumor has it (adele plug) is that VH1 was interested in doing a special on the Tunnel night club but Funkmaster Flex was trying to subtract certain individuals from Streetfunktv. C'mon flex they were apart of history you can not leave them out besides they have and own all the footage so act your age bro. Enjoy!!
