The Johnny Apollo action figure by Marx, circa 1968. This was Marx cashing in on the space race craze and trying to compete with Mattel's Major Matt Mason astronaut figure line.

Unlike Marx's earlier action figures, which were all 12-inches tall, Johnny was a mere 7 1/2-inches. He was still made out of solid plastic like his bigger brothers, so he had some heft to him.

Johnny was joined by a female counterpart, Jane Apollo. There were additional accessories that could be purchased, as well as a couple of vehicles for exploring the Moon.

The figures were also sold in special boxes at both the Kennedy and Johnson Space Centers souvenir shops.
