With word of the first herring "scouts" being seen this week it seemed like a good time to reread John Hay's classic, "The Run." This is my mother's copy. She was so excited to have the book signed when I took classes with Mr. Hay as a nine year old at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in the early 1960s. It is now a treasured part of my own library.
