Reading Twin Peaks message boards pre-Reddit, pre-Tumblr, pre-all this shit we have now, is fascinating, and I think a valuable part of being a Twin Peaks fan. Here's a good thread that is full of interesting thoughts on Chet Desmond and the entire first part of Fire Walk With Me before Laura shows up.
The magazine Wrapped in Plastic is mentioned. Wrapped in Plastic was one of the first sources of Twin Peaks theories and fandom outside of the alt.tv.twinpeaks Usenet newsgroup. It was an actual magazine published quarterly that you could order from them directly, or get at your local comic book store or book store. They did a lot of interviews with actors, writers and crewmembers of Twin Peaks.
Their reviews and long form analysis were not something you could find anywhere else at the time, and their letter section brought together a lot of fans for the first time.
