I watched Dead Calm the other week and it’s honestly one of the best thrillers I have ever seen! I loved it! It was crazy and crazy awesome <3

I watched it because I saw it in the TV guide and saw the cast and I asked my dad if he’d seen it and he was like “that’s a really good movie, watch it” so I recorded it off TCM and watched it lol. I’m glad I did! It’s one of my new favourite movies! 

Although I kinda would’ve liked to have seen Hughie go crazy and kill all those people aboard his boat and to have seen what happened.

He was absolutely nuts! I loved it <3

Billy Zane was amazing in this movie as Hughie and was so gorgeous! and apparently only 23 at the time! D: I think I’m starting to like younger guys now when I used to like older guys and still do sometimes although I always liked me some Billy Zane, he’s very hot and looked delicious in this <3 It also helped that he was topless a lot in it ;) <3

He rowed that little row boat all the way over to Rae and John’s boat and said they all died of botulism on his boat and he was alone alive with them for ages because tuna is for cats goddammit! so he didn’t eat it.

John being the smart guy he is decides to go and investigate the said boat in question to see what is aboard the death ship, he opens a door and finds it is indeed flooded as he was told and a load of dead bodies, some of which are beheaded float out with it. It was so crazy! D: 

He gets back on little boat to go back to their big boat but Billy Zane has took over with his craziness and makes them go off and instead of following on the little boat after failing to jump aboard, he goes back to the big boat and tries to fix it whilst watching videos that keep playing of what happened on that boat but not the incident. He also keeps in touch with wifey Rae.

Rae decided her only course of action was to sleep with the mad man, maybe because he’s more age appropriate than her husband lol. Sam Neill did look a little old for a young Nicole Kidman in this movie, I couldn’t see it - even as a person who likes older guys sometimes. 

But also she tried to kill him with a shotgun and throw keys over the boat which the dog went and got back LOL!!! that did quite make me laugh tbh. That was dumb, don’t throw things overboard when you have a dog. Or at least don’t let the dog see it happen lol. 

She did eventually after sleeping with him knock him out with her sleeping pills she’d been taking after their kid died, the whole reason they were out there, to get some peace and for her to calm down ... bet they wish they hadn’t lol. Not that you’d expect all that to happen tbh. She also decided to put Hughie on the life raft for some reason instead of leaving him aboard, I sort of get it but he could’ve just fallen off and drowned, not that she would have minded. 

Then she hogtied him and headed back towards John on Hughie’s boat which was sinking fast and John had abandoned. Finally she found him and they went back to their nice little vacation.

So they thought, but Hughie had gone missing off the life raft which she shot with a flare and obviously not died after all ... for he came back aboard when John had gone below deck who showed up again but Hughie. He pretended to be John because she had her eyes closed as he’d been washing her hair and he got blood all in her nice clean hair! Men. 

Then he goes and tries to strangle her because he’s Grade A Insane but then John came back up, lucky for her and shot a flare in to his face!!! D: Not a nice way to go but he did deserve it with all the crazy antics and shit he gave them when they just wanted to relax. It seems he picked the wrong boat to climb aboard! The crazy killer guy doesn’t always win.

Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill were also excellent in this movie. A movie that really only had 3 stars with those two and the aforementioned Billy Zane. They were well cast and kept it interesting. The plot was also insanely good! and it’s based on a book which if I ever see a copy I might get it. See if it’s as good as the movie! 

I am so glad I watched this movie, I would definitely recommend it! <3
