Simply looking at Keralis in his true form will drive most hermits crazy, and would kill most normal people.
Exceptions to this include: Joel Smallishbeans. Why? Joel either just can't see him or thinks that this giant blob of incomprehensible stuff, isn't real.
Bonus? Joel is perfectly able to exist in his realm, and having a lover with you is always nice.
(+Joel can somewhat breathe in the void, so maybe Joel isn't real.)
Joel is terrifying, but he doesn't realise it. See, what Joel believes is what Joel believes. To him, Keralis is just a normal dude. To him, the void is just an ordinary place.
And Keralis loves his super powerful partner! Isn't he so cute? He has the power to manipulate his reality but doesn't even care about it, how precious!
