Watch as Joel Parkinson gets one of the sickest rides of the day at Pipeline . this isn’t even “big Pipeline” but it’s just as scary to me because under that wall is 2ft of water then hard reef... this is Joel’s last event before he retires at 37 he is ripping in vintage form. Nobody surfs with the same grace and even though this is more about a barrel ride than huge carves , his connection to Pipeline is evident . World Champion 2012, Triple Crown Champ 3 times , and in his final time in Hawaii he’s actually in first place to win the triple crown here again (Highest points across 3 events) it’s inspiring and we’re gonna miss seeing him compete , but nobody wants to see anyone compete who’s heart isn’t in it anymore - so one last time , Parko , is owning Pipe .
