Scene One, Take You - Joe Keery

November 2015, the month where you started filming one of your biggest projects to date, and the month where you met the person you’d eventually fall in love with.
You adjusted the sleeves of the green Hawkins High hoodie—the one costume had given you to help “Amanda Henderson” feel like a real person and not just ink on a script. According to the character breakdown, she was Dustin Henderson’s older sister. Smart, funny, a total science geek—basically, a taller, sassier version of her younger brother. You'd instantly connected with her. The role felt like slipping into something familiar, something that already felt half-yours.
Still, today wasn’t about Amanda.
Today was about not tripping over your lines, or doing that awkward half-wave thing when someone definitely wasn’t waving at you.
You scanned the lot, pretending to search for your mark. In reality, you were just trying to breathe past the nerves fluttering in your chest like caffeine-fueled moths.
BAM.
Your shoulder slammed right into someone rounding the corner.
“Oh crap—I’m so sorry!” you gasped, hands shooting up like you were about to be arrested.
“No, no, that was me, I’m sorry!” the guy said, chuckling.
You looked up. And wow.
Tall, handsome, amazing hair. He had the easy kind of charm you could feel without him even trying. He wore retro-style jeans like yours, but with a vintage striped polo shirt and the cutest smile. In one hand, he held a half-drunk cup of coffee; in the other, a script binder that looked like it had survived a tornado… twice.
“I’m Joe,” he said, flashing a grin. “I play Steve Harrington.”
You let out a breathy chuckle. “Amanda. I mean—Y/N. Amanda’s the character. Dustin’s sister.”
His smile widened at your stumble. “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Y/N.”
You nodded, a bit awkwardly, like your head had forgotten how to function in conversation. “Sorry again for basically body-checking you,” you said.
“Oh no, it’s okay. I should’ve looked where I was going,” he shrugged, the corners of his eyes crinkling.
Joe opened his mouth to say something else, and for a second it felt like the air paused—until a megaphone voice shattered the moment.
“Y/N Y/L/N to Lot 3 please, Y/N Y/L/N to Lot 3. Thank you!”
You sighed and gave a small laugh. “Duty calls.”
“Guess so,” he said with a nod. “It was nice meeting you.”
You started to walk backwards toward the lot, still facing him. “You too.”
Then, before turning fully, you grinned. “Try not to walk into any more nervous castmates today, Harrington.”
He laughed. “No promises.”
And just like that, you turned and walked off, heart beating faster—not because of your scene, but because of a guy with great hair and a very, very chaotic binder.
You hope you’ll bump into him tomorrow too.
Please lmk if you have any feedback!! This was honestly pretty rushed and I am very aware on how shitty my grammar is lol. Thank you lovely’s 💕💕
