“We all know what it feels like to be an outcast or a loner or to fall between the cracks. To be the target of gossip or people talking about you, or girls are ganging up on you. One minute, they're your best friend; the next, they call you on three-way.”
I think women are asked to consider the way they look too much and regard it as more important than other aspects of themselves. We don't ask men about their mentality about aging nearly as much. I can't get behind that double standard. We have to reject the idea that women are only valuable based on their youth and beauty. Personally speaking, I feel smarter than when I was younger. I'm in better health. I have better relationships. I'm better at my job. And I'm more comfortable in my skin.
I feel really fortunate that I've been given a lot of roles that were very different from each other. For me, variety is the key. I don't want to play the same thing over and over again.

I find it weird when people try to change a character to make them ‘likable’ or worry about what people will say. I love it when actors go for it even if they look ugly. I’ll be a bitch, look ugly, or go without make up if the part calls for it. I’ll do anything if it gets a laugh.
I’ve never been a fearful person. When I was growing up, I wanted to be an actress, a writer, and a musician and I never really processed that those are the three hardest jobs - I just never even processed it.
I can see my ghost trying to get that Academy Award, forever stuck in a casting office. Can you imagine? I’ve spent enough time in audition rooms. I don’t want to be doing that in my afterlife.
