Anomiidae- jingle shells, mermaid toes, saddle oysters.
I have about thirty of these shells- they are fun and have beautiful colors and jingle when you shake them in your hands.
I have never really be sure what to do with them except for decoration or as a basic shell, but after reading some things, I have come up with a small list of possibilities!
- Paper thin, but incredibly strong. Can be used for protection, to promote self growth, strength, shielding, etc.
- Retains it’s shiny quality even after death - persistence, beauty, strength.
- Fishermen cover an area with jingle shells to help juvenile oysters settle better - another protection aspect, helping others along their journey.
- The nickname Mermaid’s Toenails... is just pretty cute, I’m not totally sure what you could do with that! If anything things of anything, feel free to add on!
- The meat is incredibly bitter and is not eaten. This could prove to be useful in a curse for a variety of reasons.
Feel free to add on, please :)

Jingle Shells
Splashing through the foam
on a seahorse we sashay
over the waves we roam
laughing all the way, hahaha
shells on bobbles gleam
making treasures bright
oh what fun it is to sing a mermaid song tonight
