There were rare times when the Jim brothers would get into little quarrels with one another.

And one of those times was today, on St. Valentine’s Day.

Both of their eyes have been on a certain someone who has considered them close friends, almost like family. But when the twins found out that they were in love with you….that’s when the rivalry began.

Throughout the building of Ego Inc., in your room, the conference room, and the breakroom, you’d find small gifts and little love notes that were obviously from the Jims.

Their way of writing told you who was the Field Reporter Jim and who was Cameraman Jim. For giggles you just loved calling them “Jim One” and “Jim Two”.

But…the truth was you were never really one for romantic relationships, particularly because you were aromantic. You weren’t sure if explaining that to them would confuse them or break their hearts….or perhaps both.

Regardless, you still found their silly shenanigans amusing, and so you continued to play along until they both confronted you.………

The abrupt, high-pitched ringing startled you out of your musings as you looked to see Dark appear in your room. And in his hands were the shirt collars of two certain twins who had a few scratches and bruises on their arms, and looked like they wanted to kill each other even with the demon separating them.

“Oh my God..” You muttered, eyes wide in horror. “What happened to-?”

“They were…fighting about you,” Dark growled lowly, dropping the brothers to the floor. “And during their little…scuffle they broke the coffee pot in the breakroom. Now Google has to order a new one. Since you are apparently at the root of their rivalry I expect that you deal with them accordingly.”

You nodded in understanding. “Of course. Thank you, Dark.”

With a nod the demon teleported out of the room. The moment he did, the Jim brothers glared daggers at each other.

“Ahem.”

Tensing up, they looked back at you simultaneously, blushes covering both of their faces. With a sigh you sat back down on your bed, patting the spots beside you. “C’mon.”

They hesitated for a moment, but eventually they picked themselves off the floor and walked over to you, fixing their shirts. Then they sat down on either side of you, looking guilty.

“I know you guys left me all those Valentine’s Day gifts, and that’s very sweet of you. But…there’s..something I need to tell you before you decide to confess anything to me.” You bit your lower lip, before your eyes flickered from one brother to the other.

“Y-You can tell us, Ji–I mean, [y/n],” Jim One reassured, placing a hand on your knee. Jim Two nodded and patted your shoulder in encouragement.

You took a deep breath and finally said, “I’m aromantic.”

The two exchanged confused glances, their smiles faltering. “What’s… aromantic?” Jim One mumbled.

“It’s a person who experiences little or no romantic attraction to others,” you explained. “In other words I’m not..really looking to date anyone.” Then you paused to see how they would react.

They looked at each other once more, thinking over the words you said. When they realized that all of their efforts were a waste because you didn’t love either of them back, their eyes began to water up.

“But.”

Gazing at you once more, they were surprised when you wrapped both arms around their shoulders, bringing them close. “I…I still love you guys as family. Nothing will ever change that. And I appreciate all these gifts and sweet messages you left me.” A smile appeared on your face. “So thank you for making this Valentine’s Day less shitty for me.”

The brothers both smiled back at you and embraced you tightly, relieved yet a little embarrassed and regretful that they’ve been at each other’s throats all day long.

Later on you took them to Dr. Iplier’s clinic to get their minor injuries checked out, and afterwards you spent the rest of the day with them eating chocolates and bugging the other egos.
