okay so i'm supposed to be writing a gordonbat fic for @bruce-wayne-age-gap-challenge but it's just not really clicking rn so if i never actually finish it.. please imagine bronze age gordonbat where they've been working in gordon's office together for a long night and batman is like aight let's call it a night, i'll walk you to you car (like he does) and jim is like yeah okay but i'm taking a cab cuz my car's in the shop rn and batman says well... i can give you a ride home (like he doesn't). and jim is like :0 and then he is like.. sure okay. and this is a new and unusual shift to their dynamic but jim is liking where it's going..
and so there they are in the batmobile, roof down, flying through the streets of gothamβthe city that has always felt like it belongs to the two of them but right now, tonight, it really truly feels like it's just them and gotham. and jim points to a building they pass where they solved a case and then bruce points out a store where they solved a case and soon they're literally going down memory lane and everything is perfect and jim is off duty and it seems like batman is as close to as off duty as jim has ever seen him and they're talking about the life they've built together as partners.....
maybe they talk about how long it's been.. how jim's getting too old for this (like they both like to say) or how jim is gonna get a heart attack one of these days (like jim likes say to say) or how jim will outlive them all (like bruce likes to say)...
and they pull into jim's driveway and batman turns off the engine and they're quiet now.. on the precipice of something... well they've been on the precipice of it since bruce offered him a ride but now they really really are. and jim is debating making a move, but before he can, batman is already leaning forward and kissing him.
and kissing him. and kissing him. and kissing him. and they settle into each other so effortlessly, like they've been waiting these decades they've been working together just to finally do this. and batman reaches for jim's belt, pauses there for an answer and gets a very readily positive one in response.... and bruce sucks gordon off in the batmobile.

Thank you! So, for Harvey - Bruce never loses faith in him, always hoping that Harvey will be able to rehabilitate, to return on the right track. He helped Harvey before the acid incident, and helped after, despite Harvey becoming a villain. This faith in him is the light in Harvey's life <3 For Jim - he is often a black sheep in the GCPD for being the only incorruptible cop. In Year One he is straight up beaten by other officers for it. I think he felt very lonely in this regard, and very hopeless about Gotham in general. Then here comes this weirdo bat guy, who helps him solve crime, destroy corruption, and is just his friend. I think Bruce gave Jim back his hope <3 For Khoa - Bruce is Khoa's one true friend, the person that understands and accepts him like no one else. Bruce is his most important connection, and Khoa is willing to put aside their differences in methods to work with him. This acceptance is the light in Khoa's life <3 (even if he will never admit it)
