There had been reports of the senkaimon having problems getting people to where they needed to go, it kept dropping them in different places. Sometimes the shinigami managed to return home to the Soul Society, but there had also been times that they'd lost all contact. It had seemed to be happening right around the new moon each month and Sajin had volunteered to look into it. He hoped he'd be able to put a stop to it for the sake of the rest of the shinigami.
The wolf was positive he'd made it to A Land of the Living, but he didn't think it was the one they generally ended up in. This place smelled nothing like Karakura Town had. There weren't as many pollutants in the air here. Was it possible he'd just ended up in a more forest covered area which made it seem so different? Yes. Did he believe that likely? No.
Wandering along through the forest, the wolf's ears and nose twitched heavily as he sought any sign of people. Eventually catching the sound of bi-pedal steps, Sajin turned towards it to track the sound down. He came out of the woods into a clearing with a green haired man in it. Well, he was pretty sure this was definitely a different Living World as he couldn't recall seeing any humans carrying swords like that in many years. Perhaps following the sword toting man would let him glean some information.

The swordsman glanced over the offered bottle of booze with an almost blank look in his eyes. The younger swordsman wasn't wrong --- he did need that alcohol more than anybody could have imagined then and there. Without a word, he took the bottle from Zoro and took a long swing from it, grimacing as the alcohol burned down his throat.
How he managed to find himself in the situation he was currently in was beyond him. It wasn't anything bad, it was simply the fact that he had somehow managed to find himself in the middle of what seemed to be a very heartfelt reunion between Shanks and his ward of sorts, Straw Hat. That in turn meant Mihawk found himself in Zoro's company once more after training him for two years while at the same time being forced to socialize, when all he originally wanted to do was to stop by and see how his once rival and only friend fared.
❝ You're not wrong, ❞ Mihawk finally spoke, heaving a sigh. ❝ I didn't exactly anticipate being wrapped up in a family reunion of sort. Unfortunately, Akagami won't let me leave that easily, so I have to endure. ❞

Must suck to suck. Salt is just a sign of jealousy.

@jigoku-no-marimo asked:
"You know,... I was 8 when my mom died." Why was he opening up? It was the perfect time, though: the two of them on the deck alone, evening melting into night. Sounds of laughter escaped the galley as the rest of the crew finished their desserts. Once it cleared out, Zoro would go back and help with the dishes before watch. For now, the fresh sea air helped cool the heat radiating from the ship's innards. After taking another sip of the bottle he had pilfered from behind the Cook's back, the swordsman continued. "She had been sick for a while. My old man had died in a battle years before, so I became the village's brat after that." A pause. "Not trying to stir any emotional pot, just... letting you know that someone gets it."
A choking sound left the sniper at the sudden admission, all senses at attention all at once. His head whipped to the galley door, realizing it was only the two of them out on the deck for the moment. Just where was this coming from..? The green-haired swordsman was hardly the sharing type, even in times when it'd be pretty adventagous to do so. But here he was, suddenly spilling out his backstory to Usopp.
A mix of emotions filled the sniper, concern for Zoro, pride that the other felt comforable enough to share with him, and a little bit of happiness at how close this interaction suggested the two were. At least, Usopp hoped the two of them were close.
Regardless of reasons, all their attention was on Zoro in an instant, listening intently.
'Not trying to stir any emotional pot, just... letting you know that someone gets it.'
Someone gets it, huh...? What the other was referring to specifically could be any number of things. But Usopp could hazzard a solid guess. He sits with the information for a few moments, processing it all, and a small, bittersweet smile becomes the swordsman's answer. "Bein' the village brat wasn't so bad." He starts off, clumsily. "We turned out pretty alright I'd say. Though..." Their smile fades a bit. "I do wish we didn't...I just...We were just kids." It wasn't fair.

@jigoku-no-marimo asked: [Panic Attack]
[PANIC]
Why? Why now??
The fighting was over! We won!! So why now, as the festivities were starting to wind down, was his body getting wound up? His chest felt tight, a lump in his throat and heart starting to work double-time.
Like, yeah sure, they almost died! Going against Kaido and Big Mom a fucking terrifying feat! They’d been through hell and came out the other side. But what else was new?? They did this crap all the time! So why now was Usopp unable to get his breathing under control? His mind having hit the panic button hours too late.
He had to find something, someone, to help.
Picking a random direction, he walked, stumbling past drunk partygoers until he was in a quieter area. Fresh air helped? Right? Except, it really only served to make him acutely aware of the cold sweat on his skin, sticking his clothes to his body and bringing further discomfort. Damnit.
He kept walking, almost blindly, until familiar green came into view. Without further thought, he made a beeline for Zoro, not stopping until he was practically clinging to his arm. He was shaking like a leaf at this point, hoping to find some semblance of safety so his stupid brain can stop working overtime.
He’d speak, but it felt like his jaw was wired shut with how hard he’s clenched it.
@jigoku-no-marimo asked: [Lack of Sleep Starters]
Jesus, have you been awake the entire night?
"Uhh..."
The cogs in the sniper's mind struggled to switch focus, hearing Zoro's voice but not quite processing the question. He slowly blinks once, twice (why are his eyes so dry...) and twists his body towards the swordsman like his bones rusted. "Um." Another slow blink as his brows furrow.
Why was it sunny behind Zoro? Hadn't the sun been setting last he checked? Another creaky turn towards the clock, spine giving a few pops in protest. Chocolate eyes squint behind his goggles and he frowns. Oh.
Well shit.
"Huh....Looks like it." He coulda sworn it hadn't been that long. He was just about to head to bed! ...After a few more tweaks of course. Due to his sudden movement from a severely unhealthy hunch over his desk, his shoulders began to scream at him. All the aches that came from turning into a fucking gargoyle were starting to make themselves unfortunately known, and Usopp groaned.
"I uh. 'll be up 'n a sec.." His jaw felt like it'd been rusted shut, and mixing with the ever-compiling exhaustion he could feel washing over him, it caused his words to come mumbled and slurred a bit. "Jus...one more th'ng..."
