OH GODS. Okay. Okay. Let's see.
I was raised Catholic and I went to Catholic school literally from pre-k to senior year of high school (like, I'm in my second year of college right now, so I've only been in public school a year and a half). I am no longer Catholic because in 5th grade I read The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series) and WOW GOODBYE JESUS. It was the first time that Greek mythology (or mythology in general) had been presented to me in a modern, relatable way instead of as stuffy academic high-art legends of long ago and far away. My dad gave me a book about Wicca some time after that, and while I don't strictly identify as Wiccan, I consider myself a pagan. SO YEAH Percy Jackson changed my life.
I'm really interested in the timing and circumstances of my birth. When my mom went into labor and her water broke, I floated down and sat on my umbilical cord, restricting my flow of blood and oxygen. So the doctors pumped her full of saline water to lift me back up. As a result, when she finally delivered me, I came out nice and sparkly clean instead of bloody and covered in placenta. Furthermore, the timing of my birth fascinates me because the number 7 is very present. I was born on January 28th, a day divisible by 4 (another auspicious number) to get 7. I was born on a Saturday--the 7th day of the week (on most calendars, anyway). Finally, I was born at 7:07 AM. I am fully convinced that, if I were a character in a book or a holy text, these facts about my birth would be signs that I'm the Chosen One or the next great prophet. IRL, though, it's just stuff I contemplate for fun, when I'm having my delusions of grandeur.
I was a fucking holy terror in pre-K. If I wasn't whispering the word "penis" into my classmates' ears like it was a dirty word, I was cursing out my teacher or telling people I wouldn't miss them while they were on vacation. One of my famous quotes, which was spoken after my father taught me about the development of babies in utero, was, "I came from inside of my mom, but it was okay because she had a really big vagina." This other time my dad got a note home because I said "bullshit" to the teacher but I honest to god have NO memory of it, and I have a damn good memory. My greatest moment, though, was this time that I stood in the doorway of the tiny bathroom we had in the classroom and repeatedly mooned my classmates whenever the teacher wasn't looking. I was totally awful in pre-K.
Flash forward to kindergarten. I got a teacher fired. She never really liked me much anyway, like she definitely had favorites and I was nooooot one of them. I would get in trouble for the most petty shit that ANY kindergartener would do. Anyway, this one time I was being a dumb 5 year old and goofing off in the coat closet and one of the other kids snitched on me. So I come out of the coat closet and this woman SWOOPS down on me, GRABS me by the front of my shirt and literally fucking LIFTS me off my feet before dropping me in the corner by the classroom door. Naturally, I'm terrified and screaming like I'm being murdered. I was so loud the principal came down the hall like "Wtf is going on in here??" So I sat outside her office the rest of the day till my dad picked me up. That teacher never came back to school and it's a good thing she didn't because my dad was ready to murder her and/or sue the school, neither of which he did. So yeah, they SAY she took a leave of absence but we all know that bitch got fired.
I've gone to the top of quite a few things. I've been to the top of the Empire State Building (touristing in my own city lmao), I've climbed to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral in London, I've gone to the top of the Eiffel Tower, I've climbed to the top of a Mayan...I think it was a temple. I can't remember what the tour guide told us. But it was TERRIFYING because even though I'm only 5'4" that's enough to have a center of gravity that makes climbing up those steps a fucking nightmare. I've also visited a monastery at the top of a mountain in Spain. I think I'm pretty well travelled for a 19 year old, even if it's just the average tourist-y stuff--I've been to London, Paris, Madrid, Toledo (just a day trip while I was in Madrid), Barcelona, NEARLY to Canada (we weren't able to go to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls sadly), the Riviera Maya in Mexico, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, the Dominican Republic, and St. Thomas (these last four were part of a cruise, so I was only in each place for one day).
So, uh, this turned into more of a story time than just quick facts about me. Anyway, enjoy.
