Jess is pretty much the cliche of a sweet, warm-hearted barista in a small town. She has a way of making people feel seen, whether it’s remembering a regular’s favorite coffee or leaving little positive affirmations on their cups. Kindness comes naturally to Jess, and she truly believes that the smallest of gestures can brighten someone’s day. Despite being abandoned by her biological family, Jess feels truly blessed to be adopted by the Lawrences. Growing up in a house built on love rather than blood taught her that family is something a person can choose. Sometimes blood does not mean loyalty. Jess shares an incredibly close bond with her adoptive parents and siblings. Her family is and always will be her best friends, biggest supporters, and favorite people. Being away for a few years makes Jess very appreciative of the game nights, family dinners, and fun memories she gets to make with her family. Coffee is both her career now and a passion of hers - she loves learning about different beans, brewing methods, and flavor combinations. She’s always been a big foodie and loves to try new restaurants/dishes. Despite the difficult start to her life, Jess chooses to lead with compassion instead of bitterness. She has a nurturing heart, an optimistic outlook, and a habit of believing the best in people. She loves deeply, laughs easily, and finds joy in sharing good food, great coffee, and meaningful conversations with the people she cares about. To her, home isn't a place—it's the people gathered around the table, sharing stories over a warm meal and a fresh cup of coffee.

Being left at a fire station in Merrock, ME when she was only days old, Jessica never knew anything about her biological parents. She grew up in and out of several foster homes, trying to adapt in each one but struggling with her emotions. Jessica often lost her cool and threw tantrums, not listening to any of her foster parents. Unfortunately, not many of the foster parents cared enough to try and figure out the cause of these outbursts. So, Jess got overlooked by potential families due to being labeled a problem child. She struggled in school because of her attitude and it seemed like life was going nowhere but downhill… Until the lovely Lawrences showed up. The couple took a chance on Jessica and adopted her when she was 6 years old. They immediately got her into therapy and she finally learned some healthy ways to deal with her emotions. Jessica always felt like her parents were the Lawrences and she just had to wait for them to find her. She called them mom and dad immediately and sensed that familial love right away.
After getting into therapy, Jessica’s life slowly started to improve. Her grades went up and she finally had the confidence to start making friendships in school. She grew very close to her parents and adoptive siblings. Sadly, kids at school made fun of the Lawrences for the different type of family they had. Jess tried her best to stay above the bullying and kept her head held high. She had a close group of friends throughout all 4 years of high school and they all remained close even after graduating. They had a group chat that they used to stay connected even though some left Merrock for college or just life. Jess wasn’t sure what exactly her life would be after she got her high school diploma. She decided that college was not in her plans, at least not yet. Jess wanted to explore the world and went on a solo trip. She packed up and headed to Italy, seeking the perfect espresso and amazing memories. She had learned some Italian in high school and felt confident in her decision. Her family wished her the best and was always there for her. Jess spent 3 years in Italy, mostly staying in Rome, where she went on coffee and food tours. She enjoyed all the delights Italy had to offer and met some pretty great people during these years. Finally, though, Jess felt too homesick and she decided to head back home to Merrock. Her parents were beyond thrilled and her family threw a huge welcome home party for her. She landed a job working full time as a barista at the local cafe. Her parents helped her secure a studio apartment in downtown Merrock near her job. Jess never liked driving, so she often walked or biked to her workplace. She fell into a simple routine of life, hanging out with old friends and eventually it became like she never left. 7 years passed with not much craziness happening. She adopted two bonded but unrelated cats and named them Java and Brew. Jess enjoyed the peaceful life she had, but she did often wonder how amazing another trip would be. However, Jess realized being near her family was more important than her internal itch to travel. Recently, she started to consider enrolling in a college program to earn a degree.
