aw, thanks! honestly i am always suprised that that scene is read as anything other than him thinking rose got back together with mickey, especially considering they were talking about him "mickey... and the baby."

it's him being hurt/suprised at the possibility that he had 1. misread their relationship or that she had taken mickey back. she was just teasing him, seeing what he would and would not fall for, just like she joked about being back working in a shop before telling him she was working for torchwood. it's light banter to try to alleviate the weight of the moment to keep from falling apart as she does when they actually start talking about never seeing each other again. i guess you could read it as a little cruel of her, but it's also her sort of "does it need saying?" moment: doesn't he KNOW that there will never be anyone else now? that's how i see it from rose's pov.

2. i do think the idea of rose being pregnant, even if it's mickey's child, knocked the wind out of him a bit. like the contrast between bwb1 and 2 is about the things we want and can't have vs what we could have when different opportunities are presented to us.

in doomsday it's about we can never grow old together, we can never have a baby, we can never see each other again. journey's end is about being able to have those things now and that being special because they were not a possibility before.

in planning the end of time rtd considered showing rose and tentoo with a baby, which would have been a great parallel to that, but i do understand that he thought it would be too distracting from ten's regeneration
