As Jesse turned around, intending to look back for the last time, he saw that you had your eyes open, and were staring at him. He blinked, and then froze, as if perhaps by not moving, you wouldn’t notice him.

“It’s okay to go,” You whispered, so as not to wake the others. “We’ll find you again soon enough.”

“I don’t want you to find me, damnit, I want you to leave me alone. This is my mission!” He said, a little louder than intended, but both Cassidy and Tulip were heavy sleepers. You nuzzled your head into the pillow, not listening to him.

“Don’t forget to protect yourself until we do, Jesse.” You muttered, feeling yourself falling asleep.

Jesse watched as you closed your eyes, and only then did he pick up  his jacket and head out the door, leaving the three people he cared about most in the crappy motel room. He hated that you saw him go, and hated even more that you would have to explain to the other two that he had run away.

Your dream wasn’t something that was particularly achievable. It was even less so than becoming a rock star or being the first person to do the funky chicken on Venus. Ever since you were little and saw all of those Disney films, your dream was to have birds land on your shoulders while you sing, dance with an owl, cuddle a fox, all of those things that Princesses did with animals that looked so adorable but was so impossible unless they were all trained.

You didn’t find many trained animals in rural Texas, except for in miserable petting zoos and cattle for farming.

But Jesse offered to help with the aid of his powers. It was a way for him to see how far they went, and a chance for you to live your dream, what was the downside?

The two of you drove off, a couple hours out of Anneville to find a large forested area. Stepping gently over fallen tree branches, and of course getting sweaty from the sun, especially since Jesse never took off the damn preacher’s outfit - you finally found a shady knoll.

And Jesse commanded a couple of flying birds to land on your shoulder - and they did. They chirped at you and hopped up and down, but their claws did start to sink through your clothes and into your skin.

WOW! I learned something new today! I learned of a site that allows me to make surveys for the work I do! This is really awesome I think and I really hope a great number of people fill out the survey so I may improve my website.
