Oh, What A Cast!
                                            REVIEW: Jersey Nights
If you know anything about me, you will know that I just LOVE all things swingin’ 60s, so when I heard that Jersey Nights was making an appearance at the Darlington Hippodrome, I just jumped at the chance to go.Â
This musical takes a look back at the long and success career of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and features a tonne of highly popular hits which are guaranteed to have you singing and dancing in the stalls. You can expect to hear ‘Walk Like A Man’, ‘Sherry’ and ‘Earth Angel.’ (If you have recently watched Back to the Future, you will definitely recognise this song!)Â
The songs were performed by four talented entertainers; who had the most amazing singing range and hit those famous Frankie Valli high notes perfectly. Personally, Ricky Rojas had the widest vocal range for me and it is clear to see just why he has performed on Broadway.Â
The trio who made up the live band were also second to none and provided a sleek live soundtrack to the singers.
The backing dancers provided another welcome addition on the stage and performed some lively routines; I just don’t know where they get their energy from!
Moving aside from the guys, the female supporting cast were nothing short of fab-u-lous! I particularly enjoyed their performance of ‘Be My Baby’ and ‘Da Do Ron Ron’. Can I please come and join your girl gang and steal your vintage outfits asap?
The costume game was also strong with the men in the production; you really cant beat those sharp, white suits to instantly transport you back to the era.Â
While the ‘Four Seasons’ provided a range of trivia and humours snippets between tracks, I would have loved to hear a little further info to retell the band’s rich history.  Â
Overall Jersey Nights is a high energy, powerful performance which is the ideal show for the vintage lover and I have definitely come out of it with some new songs to add to my Spotify playlist.Â
Jersey Nights runs until this Saturday 20th January at the Darlington Hippodrome, for tickets + further info, please visit their website.
