u knowâŚâŚthis ask has sat here for at least a month but let me assure u, anon, i have thought about it nonfuckingstop. it haunts me, psychically, like herbie from herbie: fully loaded following me down the street or the girl from the ring but if she just lived in my tv 24/7.
because a) you wrote ME. and i am being SEEN in a most UNFLATTERING LIGHT. i know EXACTLY what gifset ur talking about and do u know what? do u know?? i clocked that precise moment even before I received this ask. i did not even have to REFERENCE. i knew!! i knew!!! and YOU knew to send this ask to ME!!! this is called ENTRAPMENT. 𪤠đ this is what u did to me. i am an honest little mouse named jerry & u are a devious tomcat laying out enticing gouda for me in an attempt to get me to incriminate myself. how dare u.
because b) i am a complete sucker for hayden christiansenâs face. the man has cheekbones and a jaw line carved from marble & the perpetual youthfulness of a god. what can i say. but NONE of us can even get NEAR padmĂŠâs level for âobsessed with anakin skywalkerâ because someone once told her he goes insane with rage like if u wave a flag in front of bull & padmĂŠ decided to dress exclusively in dior red from head-to-toe and what about it, babey?

apparently, she's been harassed for over a year and @staff didn't do a damn thing about it, so she deleted her blog. Her work is still up on AO3, though. It's just a damn shame that people still cannot behave on the internet, that horrible people who think it's okay to threaten others see like...no pushback from people who are supposed to cut their access. I totally don't blame her for it, its honestly the best move at this point. I DO however want to throw hands with whoever's been pulling this shit.
"i would have been there for you" with a dash of "you've changed" because i like throwing curve balls and think that has the potential to crack my sternum in half
(tw blood and injury)
The summer before the Titan War is the weirdest of Percyâs life.Â
For most demigods thatâs a given, but for Percy itâs kind of a feat. What could be weirder than the summer he defeated flesh eating birds with Dean Martin music and was later turned to a guinea pig? Or the one where he blew up his school before a not-date with a pretty girl and walked across the country in a day thanks to a sentient underground tunnel? But somehow, the summer where he and Annabeth arenât together is the weirdest.Â
Not together. Just not... together. Sheâs angry, so he gets angry and goes to Rachel, and she gets angry for him getting angry and going to Rachel, and he gets angry about her getting angry about him getting angry about her being angry. Itâs a viscous cycle, but the times do come where they have to put it aside for the greater good. Preventing the upheaval of the gods canât rest solely on the shoulders of two demigods dancing around their feelings for each other, right?Â
Right?!Â
They get called for a quest. The requirement to go to the Oracle to leave camp was thrown out the window a while ago, but so far most of the missions have been large groups or solo. But this information about river spirits came from Daedalusâs laptop, meaning itâs indisputably a Percy and Annabeth job. Chiron is reluctant to send them both, claiming itâs something Percy can do alone, but Annabeth fixes him with a champion glare and he caves.
Somehow they make it out in one piece with minimal offense to the river spirits, who promise to be allies should Kronosâs army march on camp again, which is all Percy is comfortable asking of them. Sounding the alarm is one thing, but itâs entirely too much to ask a nature spirit to waste their life force fighting back.Â
The following happens too quickly for Percy to process. Something erupts from the trees as they leave the riverbank. Annabeth shoves him down and raises her dagger to shield him. The river spirit handles the creature. Annabeth stumbles and swears in pain.Â
The impact with the forest floor steals Percyâs breath, leaving him in a daze while Annabeth disappears behind him. The creature bellows and explodes into dust before Percy ever makes out what it is.Â
âYou have to leave,â the river spirit calls. âThey know youâre here. Take your friend and go!âÂ
Percy puts his fingers to his mouth and whistles while rising from the dirt. Annabeth is leaning against a tree a few feet away, breathing heavily and holding her arm funny.Â
âWhat happened? Are you hurt?â He wants to run to her, to touch her. He doesnât.
Her head falls back against the bark of the tree, where the light filtering through the leaves illuminates the sweat on her forehead. âIâm fine. Letâs get out of here.âÂ
Percy doesnât buy it, but she has that stormy look in her eyes that tells him she isnât budging. âBlackjack is on his way.âÂ
A heavy sigh escapes her as she nods, still clutching her left arm. Percy retrieves her dagger from the ground and offers it to her, but her eyes are screwed shut. Itâs not like her to show pain like this.Â
He looks at the holster on her leg. âIâm just gonna... uh...â He slides it into its sheath, taking every precaution not to touch her thigh and half expecting to get stabbed for it.Â
Great gusts of wind batter the fragile limbs of the trees as Blackjack sails down to them, his wide wings beating rhythmically. His hooves strike the earth and he trots over to Percy. Where to, boss?Â
âWe gotta get back to camp,â Percy says, frowning at Annabeth.Â
Lady boss ainât looking too hot.Â
âDonât let her hear you say that,â he mumbles.Â
Annabeth quirks an eyebrow at the two of them and rolls her eyes, walking to Blackjack with her nose in the air. She may not know what Blackjack said, but apparently that means itâs Percyâs fault. Everything seems to be Percyâs fault, these days.Â
She attempts to haul herself up, but her arm gives out and she ends up crying in pain. Percy catches her despite knowing sheâd rather fall than accept help from him.Â
âI can do it myself,â she snaps, shouldering him away.Â
âYou donât have to though.â Percy throws his hands in the air. âPlus, youâre injured.âÂ
Annabethâs grip on her arm tightens. âThis isnât from today.âÂ
âCouldâve fooled me.âÂ
She glares at him. âItâs from a quest from a few weeks ago. It didnât heal right, but the infirmary is full. Iâll get it checked out later.âÂ
âWhat quest?âÂ
âExcuse me?âÂ
âWhat quest did you get hurt on?â Anger rises in Percyâs chest, both at the thought of Annabeth getting injured and her keeping him in the dark about it.Â
She attempts to shrug, then winces. âDoes it matter? Itâs over.â Her shot at a casual tone misses by miles.Â
Percy tries to swallow the anger, he really does. âYouâre hurt. That matters.âÂ
For a moment, she almost softens. The cold mask sheâs plastered on cracks at the edges, revealing raw hurt.Â
Uh, guys. Hate to break up this lovely argument, really, but weâve got company.Â
Blackjack is right. Pounding steps thunder along the opposite riverbank, rattling the leaves like a warning. Percy grabs Annabethâs leg and hauls her onto the pegasus, trusting that sheâll do the rest herself. Usually heâd hop up first and ride in front, but he doesnât trust her ability to hold on with that arm.Â
Percyâs heartbeat doesnât slow, not even once theyâre in the sky with the riverbank far behind them. Heâs almost certain Annabeth can feel it pressed against her. She leans back into Percy a bit heavier than necessary, occasionally jolting against his arms, which are around her to grip Blackjackâs mane. To say heâs freaking out would be an understatement.Â
And then something drips from Annabethâs bent elbow onto his arm. Percy balks when he sees itâs blood.Â
âFuck, Annabeth. Youâre bleeding.â No response. âAnnabeth??âÂ
Her head rolls on Percyâs shoulder.Â
âBlackjack, hurry.âÂ
Blackjack doesnât ask questions, just tucks his wings and dashes to camp. Percy canât get his ambrosia without letting go of Annabeth, which simply isnât in the cards. He wraps around her until his chest is sticky with their sweat. Sweat washes out. Losing Annabeth is a stain Percy could never scrub himself clean of.Â
He doesnât know what he says to her as they flyâprobably some half-baked combination of youâre going to be okay, and weâre almost there, and if you survive this I swear I will kill you myself.Â
Percyâs feet hit the ground a second after Blackjackâs hooves. Theyâre parked right on the porch of the Big House, interrupting a heated conversation between Chiron and Clarisse, who startle at the sight of Percy. Clarisse is the first to gather her wits. She moves to take Annabeth off Blackjack, which she is certainly the most qualified to do, but Percy beats her to it.Â
âJackson, youâre hurt,â she grunts, gesturing to his chest. âLet me.âÂ
âNot hurt,â Percy says. âTaking her to Michael.âÂ
âThe river spirits are on our side,â he interrupts. âNow will one of you open the damn door?âÂ
Clarisse assists him through the doorways while Chiron goes to fetch Michael Yew from archery practice. If it werenât Annabethâs life on the line, Percy would feel bad for the guy. He hasnât slept since Lee died last summer, especially not with the way the infirmary is looking.Â
Chiron and Clarisse hover alongside Percy while Michael works his magic, sending up a healing hymn to his father after dressing the wound. He scolds Annabeth the moment she wakes, chastising her for not telling him sooner. After a glance at Chiron, he orders her bed rest for a week.Â
âNo. I have another mission in three days.â She looks at Clarisse. âYou canât do it without me.âÂ
Clarisse almost smiles at Annabethâs petulance. âIâll take Malcolm. Or maybe even Pipsqueak here.â She claps Percy on the back.
Annabethâs tone turns pleading. âChiron...âÂ
She finds the same unbending will. âNo, child. This has gone too far. Youâre to stay here until Michael releases you.âÂ
Michael looks less than thrilled to be subjected to Annabethâs wrath for the next week. âOkay, Percy. Your turn.âÂ
âIâm not hurt.âÂ
Everyoneâs eyes flash to Percyâs chest in doubt. He tears his gaze away from Annabeth to look.
BloodâAnnabethâs bloodâruns down his shirt from the ride over. From an outside perspective, it looks like Percyâs very heart is bleeding out of his chest.Â
She wonât look at him when he raises his gaze, so he supposes it is.Â
âBloodâs not mine,â he mumbles.Â
The room clears shortly after.Â
Percy, however, is rooted to the floor beside Annabethâs bed. She looks exhausted, though he can tell sheâs trying to hide it while heâs still here. He should leave. So she can sleep.Â
He canât.Â
âI would have been there for you,â he says, âif you told me.â
She almost laughs. What escapes is a bitter sound thatâs foreign in her mouth. âYeah, well. Youâve changed.âÂ
Itâs a defensive lie, and they both know it. Percy has changed, but not to that degree. He will stop at nothing to pull his friends out of the water, even if it means drowning himself. Such is the way of a loyal creature.Â
His voice is low in his chest, hurt resonating in his heart. âYou know thatâs not true.âÂ
Annabeth raises her chin. âDo I?â When have you been around to prove it?Â
Michael pokes his head in the room, looking very much like heâd rather be anywhere else. âPercy, Chiron wants to talk to you about the river spirits.âÂ
The silence is saturated, filled with blood just like the cotton of Percyâs shirt. âSure. Iâll be out in a second.âÂ
Michael shifts his weight, creaking the floorboards. âIâm afraid it canât wait.âÂ
When Percy looks back at Annabeth, her eyes are closed. The rigidity of her jaw gives her away, but Percy knows a sign when he sees one. So he leaves.Â

sheep i need to know. has anyone ever called you yard. i see it in ur profile and it feels like the name of a dark au sheep. i just cannot connect it to you
i rely solely on boost to hold down the fort of unironically calling me yard đ i gave up my hopes & dreams for that name once jd discovered her ability to meme it
i wasn't sure whether to message you or send an ask, but i figure you have at least a couple followers interested in the subject - i love elephants, and was just wondering if you had any good resources to read more about elephant biology and management!
I do, but theyâre dense! If you really love it though, theyâre fascinating.Â
A great comprehensive resource for understanding elephant management is the International Elephant Foundationâs Husbandry Resource Guide. Itâs over 200 pages long and really thorough. Itâs not the most recent document (the PDF was uploaded in 2015 but thatâs not the publication date), but what I really like about it is that it doesnât attempt to pass judgement on what the âbestâ or âcorrectâ way to manage an elephant is: instead, it was written specifically to address all the different options and ways of doing things, from which professionals are expected to be able to draw their own conclusions. So unlike some manuals currently in the industry, it talks about how to be successful with both free-contact management and protected contact; it addresses both positive reinforcement training and the use of an elephant guide (bullhook). Sometimes that can be a little uncomfortable because some ethics around elephant management in the US have changed since it was written, but itâs a great resource if youâre just looking for specific information on something without it being viewed through any sort of biased lens.Â
If you want biology, the textbook Biology, Surgery, and Medicine of Elephants is the book you want. Donât be like me and try to purchase it, because that will hurt you even if itâs used - get it from a library if you want to read it. Basically everyone I asked questions of regarding elephant physiology sent me to this book, and itâs really that good. Just be aware it does have photos of injuries (both prior to and during treatment), as well as photos from necropsies if Iâm remembering correctly. It is very technical on the vet med side, so be prepared for something that takes some work to comprehend.Â
Let me know if you end up reading either and what you think!
