HOLYYYY SHITTTTT I WAS SO WELL FED JEROLUKE-WISE WITH THIS CHAPTER I WAS STRAIGHT UP FEASTINGGGGG

like before jerome revealed himself to be oedipus, the sheer tension that luke and jerome's interactions had, ooaaugghhhh

and then when jerome finally admits it, he does in a way that taunts luke. he dangles their deal and luke's illness and luke's desperation for a cure as blackmail (which i love that jerome doesnt call blackmail, he calls it a "win-win situation", classic #jeromeisms)

and then holy shiiiit after the negotiation, the way jerome makes it personal for rosa by using luke as his hostage against her, by using him as a bargaining chip. hoooolllyyyy fuccckkk.

like these lines....thats low, jerome. but it's so good, using the very life of rosa's beloved childhood friend against her

it's just. im kinda obsessed with how strategic jerome's deal with luke was. he gets a lab rat to experiment on, he gets an NSB agent to blackmail, he gets leverage against rosa at the most critical moment. it's unclear if this was his plan from the very beginning or if he just used the tools he had as he went along but either way i just love how jerome uses luke like he owns him. even if in the end, he wasnt successful due to our wonderful amazing rosa's unwavering belief in justice and goodness, just the fact he DID ALL THAT, hoo boy, it fed me so well.

i... dont know how to explain myself for this one, folks. post main story 15, i was simply possessed by a demon that demanded jeroluke and luke whump and i had to follow that demon’s orders lest i go mad.

even in teacher's pet, which is an AU, this dynamic is apparent (though it was wholly by accident, im just realizing it in hindsight HAHA): luke was desperate to be different, he wanted to be special and unlike anyone else, and jerome responded to that desperation by initiating a "special" relationship.
