My backstory idea plays out the same, and Duncan finds them both in the Deep Roads bickering and struggling to survive in their mutual exiles. They argue and fight a lot bc of their extreme class discrepencies but eventually they see past all that artifical bullshit and try to reconcile the ways they've both been wronged by their society. They become nigh inseperable and come to love each other very deeply in a way that can't really be neatly categorized by anything other than devotion to each other. And then The Battle Of Denerim happens, and Jerindeth makes the final sacrifice to slay the archdemon and leaves her behind. Coryn retreats into the life of a Grey Warden but refuses all promotions, she ends up at Vigil's Keep anyways but never becomes The Warden-Commander. Because only her dearest friend should have held that honour and she could not bear to take that from her.
