there’s hesitation in his system. he doesn’t really want to be there, but he’s undergoing his own research. upon his own volition. it’s a step in what his predecessors would want, or so he hopes. stepping into new jericho immediately makes the android’s skin metaphorically crawl. he wants to leave. he imagines that every single person in those halls knew. knew they were in the presence of a non-deviated android. 

“RK-200,” announcing his arrival as he moves to put a hand on Markus’ shoulder. trying. “ Markus. ” again, this time perhaps it shows a bit less as volatile. it’s what niles is trying to be. he needs to open up and understand deviancy at it’s basic core. markus led an entire revolution, who’s to say he couldn’t answer questions without being as annoying as the 800 model.

HE HAS BEEN AWAKE FOR TOO LONG. Chasing after his lost friend is a weight on Vin's shoulders, but at least he has the experience of his job to keep him from breaking down.

If Connor died, he would carry on. It would not break him, but it would add another chip to his heart where many already lie.

Finding him broken and bruised does not make him feel better. He wishes he could feel better. Connor is alive after all, but he is wounded, and the grief of that somehow weighs equally to the gratefulness of having found him, leaving Vin rather numb.

He is not the only friend of Connor's. Hank is here, too, and others must be notified. When someone needs to stay behind to manage things, Vin offers to. (He doesn't like hospitals anyway, he would rather not stay in one longer than needed.)

So Hank leaves to check on Connor, and Vin stays at the precinct. Fowler is managing the official side of things - Vin will need to give a report eventually, but not tonight.

No, Vin knows what he needs to do. He looks through Connor's file to find the number - he does not even look at the name, he knows who it is.

He calls Markus.

He is too tired to plan the call, and anxiety has already run him dry. The thoughts of what the hell to say chase him through his head, but he cannot find the energy to be particularly worried about them.

"This is Detective Tserendorj," Vin says as soon as the call is answered. He should be official. ( He wonders if Connor ever mentioned him (?) )

"We found Connor. He's alive." His choice of words, he thinks, probably carry themselves. Alive, not okay. "He's at the hospital, room 213."

It feels sour that the first time he had spoken to Markus had been to bear bad news. He could hear how Markus loved Connor through the phone, just how he could see how Connor loved Markus in that specific shade of blue light.

🌺 These two go into stasis (stand by?) while interfacing a lot. Not only do they enjoy being totally wrapped up in each other, mentally and physically, but it also helps protect the other from nightmares, they both can have some pretty intense ones due to their precontructing software, but by interfacing while they're asleep, they can pull the other out of it before it gets too bad. (Also, I live for big spoon Connor curled protectively around Markus 🥺)

🔥 I will die by the HC that RK1K are versatile af. They're each other's equals, but they also love exploring all sorts of different power dymanics in the bedroom (or wherever else!! ;) )

Recieving: It's non-traditional- He's more about small gestures and actions. Maybe getting him a small plant or going to places with wonderful gardens. He's not much of a physical affection type. However, if he trusts someone enough, he does like hand holding and gentle hugs if he is not the one to initiate. Sometimes cuddling if they are someone who can make him feel safe.

Giving: To give affection, he may offer up a plant he may think someone may like, or if they've expressed a favorite plant, something to do with that. If it's a plant that can't be potted, he may plant it somewhere where they could always go see it. He's not certain how to give physical affection and fears rejection, so he may only start with small hand touches, possibly hooking of pinkies, also just holding hands in general. You know you've gained his trust if he likes to lean his head on your shoulder. It may not seem like grand gestures of love or affection, but for Ralph, those are huge gestures to him.

He hadn’t been sure what to think when he was woken deep into the night. The crash had been alarming, breaking him from his sleep enough to make him almost immediately fully conscious.

Markus.

That was what first crossed his mind, causing  him to bolt up out of bed and race his way out of his bedroom. It wouldn’t take long at all to come across the young man before him, trying his hardest to pick up and put the books away. ...Okay, good. He was safe. Carl’s heart was still racing, breathing out shallowly. With the calm presented, however, he would trying to ease himself back down.

Bringing his hand up in a bit of slight exhaustive exasperation, he’d cover the top of his face with with it before letting it fall back down at his side again.

“It’s all right,” He assured quietly, voice deep and gruff as always, with that gentle edge that made his lack of irritation known. “Here, let me help,” It wasn’t as easy for him to kneel down on the ground, but he’d do so anyway to assist Markus in putting the books away.
